Consular Certificate

Consular Certificate

Postby Karen& Ceri » Mon Feb 12, 2024 7:06 pm

Hi everyone
We are finally retiring to Spain and looking forward to it. We are dealing with SGM Abogados (who are always highly recommended on this forum) for our NLV which has just been granted. We have been asked by traffico via the abagado to supply a consular certificate in Spanish which states that we are importing our car due to change of residence and that we have owned our car for more than 12 months. When we applied for our Visa at BLS Manchester they knew nothing about this certificate and were not able to help. We have tried ringing the Spanish Consulate but the number on their website is incorrect. We have emailed them and the automated response refers you to their website which doesn't seem to be much help. If anyone has been through this process with traffico we would be grateful if you can advise how you got hold of this certificate or any other information that may be of help. Many thanks.

I think the Baja Consular is issued by UK and not the Spanish consulate. It is to show you have been resident in UK for at least 12 continuous months before moving to Spain and you would then need to get that officially translated (apostilled) into Spanish.

Your TIE showing residency and the padron would show you have actually moved to Spain.

HMRC states you can get a certificate of residency online if you have a Government Gateway code or by email using the form at this link if you new tax country has asked for one.
