Hi, we are going to our holiday home in September and have found this car hire company ‘doyouspain’ has anyone used them and we’re they ok to deal with? Also where in Alicante airport are they? Many thanks in advance.

We've use doyouspain every time we come over which is frequently and have never had a problem. They are only an agent site though, your car hire will be with one of the car hire companies on their site and it is the car hire company you will deal with. Beware which one you use as some have dreadful reviews. We only use Firefly through the doyouspain website, their desk is in the Arrivals Hall, it is well signposted. We have found them to be the most reliable and they have decent cars and good service. When you do your search on doyouspain if you look on the lefthand side it lists all the car hire companies and at the bottom of the list it says uncheck all. I uncheck them all and then just check against Firefly so it only lists their cars. Centauro also get reasonable reviews but we've never used them.
Make sure you buy your own Excess insurance though to avoid paying the hire car company's exhorbitant rates for full insurance.

Its fair to say, practically very car hire hire company will get slated,
Do as Tontris said, Take out your own Extra Insurance,,, My son uses Holiday Rental as the Agent site,
The paper work he prints off has a Big Bold Statement about Extra insurance and contact phone number to call whilst you are at the desk for when the hire company tries to say 'sorry that insurance is not valid or recognized by us',
You ring the number, pass them your phone, they speak to the assistant behind the desk, You get the car.
Still take photos on collection and email them straight away to the hire company regardless, 2 minutes to do and can save a lot of time in the future.
ALSO,,, great tip, If its raining when you collect your ,,, Always get that stated on all copies of your paperwork,
Its Almost impossible to see a chipped windscreen or scratched paint work in the rain.
Good luck

We go to Spain at least 4 times a year and again also use do you Spain, we will only book car though with firefly, I would recommend to take there full insurance, also make sure your fuel option is full/full which is only a few pounds more, otherwise they will charge you for a full tank of petrol (we have been icharged 75 euro) and you still have to take it back full
We do not take full insurance as we have a uk annual excess waiver insure which costs us £40, if you go more than once a year this is worth considering
We have never had s problem with Di you spain so would highly recommend

A lot of people have had massive problems renting cars through Do you Spain, mainly to do with the insurance, and the fact that they actually take the holding deposit (normally over 1000 euros) from your card, opposed to just holding it. Even having your own insurance will not be a guarantee that you will get your vehicle hassle free. It also doesn't help that if something does go wrong with your rental, Do you Spain are absolutely no help to you at all. There have been recommendations for firms like Coys and Lara Cars on this forum, basically the price they quote you is the price you pay. Also if you need child seats, they come free with Lara cars, if you request them at time of booking.

I think most of the problems are to do with the car hire company you use not doyouspain. We've never had any hassle regarding our own Excess insurance with Firefly. Yes they do put a hold of up to €1000 depending on the size of car but they don't take the money they just put a reserve on it in your account and release it straight back as soon as you take the car back. That's one of the main reasons we only use Firefly.
There are a lot of complaints about other car hire companies such as Drivalia and Goldcar where they have refused to accept your Excess insurance and also take the fee from card and take weeks to get it back. But that's the policy of the individual hire company not doyouspain.
