DRIVING OVER IN JULY

It’s simply that in Spain we have had some of the strictest lockdown rules in the world, whereas the U.K. seems to have been very lackadaisical in their approach to the pandemic as we have seen with pictures from beaches, parks and recent protestations. When the people of the U.K. can show proper regard to this virus and the ‘new cases’ of Covid-19 come down significantly, then and only then should they be allowed to travel abroad.
There have also been idiots in Spain breaking lockdown rules as I'm sure there have been in most countries. The trouble is the British press seem to revel in showing the worst of everything unlike the Spanish press. As far as I'm aware the majority of British people abided by the regulations, I know all my large, spreadout family did.

Before you travel, I would recommend that you clarify with your travel insurance provider if you would be covered because the UK government travel advice remains as advising against all but essential travel.

We were due to drive over on 28/6 but have cancelled.
We like to take a leisurely drive and enjoy the towns we stay in. If you can go, I would suggest you do not take the route you have suggested. Any trip that sucks you onto the Peripherique around Paris is best avoided in my opinion.
Having driven over every year since 2012, I would recommend the following routes which are based on 3 nights and about 6 hours driving a day and sightseeing and enjoying the culture in the evenings:
Chinon/ Bergerac or St Emilion and then through the Somport Tunnel and staying in Huesca or Zaragoza. Of course, you can easily do the trip in 2 nights, but we use the trip as part of the holiday and love France.
One tip, to make sure the Satnav does not route us through Paris, we firstly enter Rouen and then Le Mans when we near Rouen.

I only asked advice on driving over - is it any of your business as to why we are coming over? NO.... we have a villa in Quesada and we arent coming to "sun ourselves on the beach" nor are we concerned about going to bars or restaurants.....
I cant understand the rudeness of people on here sometimes
Do people not realise we need to check on our properties after such a long absence? My neighbour phoned me today to say I have a foot of standing water on my patio (in which she kindly waded in to clear the drain covered in plant debris) and that my garden is a jungle. What about damp after so much rain? I will not be asking anyone’s permission or make any apology for visiting my house as soon as I am allowed to.

I'd want to check mine too, I don't blame you for wanting to get back and seeing all is well. Out the back to me the garden is in a right old state. Its surpising what some rain and then sunshine can do, how quickly the weeds turn into more or less trees and are going to be difficult to cut down. I hopped over the wall to empty 2 large empty floor pots, they were full of water and were harbouring mozzies. I just turned them upside down and left them but I was itching to cut all the crap back but my husband wouldn't let me. The neighbours only live in Murcia but are not allowed here yet.

Has something changed? I thought the only ferries travelling from the UK to Spain at the moment are for freight, with a limited number of passengers who fit into one of the travel ban exceptions, i.e. Spanish Citizen, Spanish Resident or those who can prove force majeure?
