Driving through France

Driving through France

Postby Big Wheeler » Mon Jan 29, 2024 7:13 pm

Those driving to Spain through France will have some choices to make this year especially those who pass close to Paris.Remember it is the Olympic games from late July to mid August.

Rather more pressing are the protesting farmers who are already blocking motorways and towns. They target trucks but cars will be caught up in the unpleasantness. The border north of la Junquera was blocked a few days ago and the approach to Calais was blocked a week or so ago.I have seen a photo of a truck being tipped over by a tractor with a fork lift attachment.Random towns in France have been targeted.A government building in Carcassonne had its windows blown out and the roof of a building in Agen collapsed under the weight of manure that was dumped on it.

Happy travels.

the disruption is causing a lot of traffic problems, not being able to enter leave not just motorways but main routes as well, they are dumping straw bales and tyres setting them on fire across roads, tractors going around roundabouts very slowly, the police just stand and watch!!

No messing about with the French. They can collapse governments, hang Royals, sell electrity to UK, strike at a whim on any matter that suits them, have the best cuisine and still retire at 62.

The French certainly don’t hide behind the parapets when they are treated wrongly by their government.
Maybe the U.K. citizens can take a leaf out of their book ,and start standing up for themselves ,when oppressed and treated like idiots by the Westminster government.
The NHS being readied for privatisation ,past privatised industries ,like the Railways ,water ,Electricity,
Etc ripping the country off ,Billionaires avoiding taxes ,big companies paying vast salary’s and bonuses to their Directors and management, plus dishing out big dividends to their shareholders while increasing prices to their customers ,while at the same time decreasing the sizes of items .
Yes ,The French have the right idea ,take to the streets ,Unity is Strength, power to the people !

Farmers associations in Spain have today voted to carry out the same type of demonstrations in Spain. A meeting of several agricultural associations met with the Minister of Agriculture and announced their decision at the end of it.

They have started some of these protests in some large cities today but will expand them countrywide throughout February.

This comes after reports that many crops, especially citrus, were being left to rot in the fields due to the low cost they receive but mainly because of restrictions being placed on them to, they say, put their jobs and ways of working at risk.

A colleague tells me that, last week, there were blockages near Figueres and La Junquera on the motorway.Similarly numerous blockages between the French border Le Perthus/Le Boulou towards Perpignan. These were all passable by using the national roads that us old timers recall before the motorways were built.
