Hello all. We are driving back to UK via France to UK INA few weeks. Has anyone experienced this trip, we came over year's ag via pòtsmouthto Santander but travelling back overland via France I expect to be very different
Our cat has her passport and microchip and vaccinations which were done in February, what are the requirements when you cross the Spanish/French border ? Thanks I advance

Hi we’ve never done the journey with a cat, but we have with a dog, and found no checks on the Spanish/French border. The checks come as you leave France to cross the channel.
If you check gov.uk site you can find the exact requirements to take your cat into the U.K. under bring your pet to the U.K.
What you need to bear in mind is that if your trip is after the transition period finishes at the end of the year, processes could well change.
I’m not sure if you are crossing the channel by ferry with your pet (which is something we haven’t done) we’ve always used Eurotunnel, very easy to get your pet checked, the centre is just before you get to the check in booths.
Have a good trip

I did it 6 years ago it was surprisingly easy at Calais and Dover just make sure the dates are good if the cat has to have a pill before going and the chip is ok and documentation up to date you’ll get stopped at Dover for the label with animal in vehicle they want it back unless it’s changed good luck long drive

Hi in response, no, no checks at Folkestone, all done in France before you check in. I assume it’s the same thing if you catch a ferry instead of Eurotunnel .
