Green residencia card not acceptable

Green residencia card not acceptable

Postby missbellspain » Mon Aug 29, 2022 11:59 am

Morning. My daughter’s driving school have told her this morning that the driving test center no longer accept the green residency cards, only TIE. Does anyone (Marcliff) know if this is correct or point me in the right direction.

And before anyone comes at me the reason I haven’t exchanged them yet is due to being a full time working single mum. I just haven’t had time.

Thanks

Moncloa (Spanish equivalent of No 10 Downing St) website still says the green card is still valid and does not have to be exchanged but they do advise doing so as only the TIE will be accepted for travel.

There have been quite a few cases of the old cards not being accepted but they are wrong. It is not obligatory to exchange it but is recommended as the TIE shows you are a beneficiary under the withdrawal agreement.

Thanks both. That’s what I thought. On further investigation from the driving school it seems the problem lies with Orihuela test center. They used to accept green card and passport but now turning students away unless they have the TIE. I phoned DGT and they also confirmed green cards are still valid.

And like you, I haven't had time to swap green card for TIE. However, I finally made an appointment yesterday. For interest, earliest appointment I could get is October
