Thanks Rob, That's reassuring. We have used OpenCar now for at least the last 6 visits and have had no trouble with them. They are friendly and have a relaxed attitude to the hire. They only charge for a small amount of petrol (about 15 euros, if I remember correctly) and then we just top up if necessary and take it back as empty as we wish to. I was just wondering if there were any others around now worth trying. We also like with Opencar, that we can collect or take back at airport or Quesada town - meaning a short hire is possible as sometimes we have a long stay but only want a car for a week or two.So we can collect at airport and take back to Quesada or the other way round and if anything goes wrong with car, which hasn't happened so far, we only have to take it to the office in town. We will probably stick with them now I've reminded myself how good they are  !

I would just like to say that we have used Pete and his wife Carol (Here and There) on many occassions and they are totally reliable.
They collect you from the airport and take you to your property where car is waiting and they also take you back to the airport - so no hassle trying to return cars to the rental company.

I fully endorse what Ferryfan has said. Friendly and totally reliable. I think it is about 150Euros a week all in for a Cleo type car

I am coming over for 8 days over Christmas and Open car are the cheapest by far, also no charge for fuel or the bring back empty con. As usual if you use a firm regularly you can get good deals. Rob

Car booked through Doyouspain. Hire with Advantage through Hertz - 45.60 Euros for 12 days. Obviously add ons will take that to about 120 Euros

What are the add ons? I suppose one is fuel but 120 does seem a reasonable price for 12 days. I prefer an all in price to start though, you know where you are then. Sounds like they price-up like easyjet (hidden compulsory extras) which is why I use Monarch ;) What car is it?
