That sounds OK, especially with being picked up and taken to and from the airport, as airport taxi is 40 to 45 euros each way. As long as there aren't any high cost 'extras' when you pay for the car.

Just checked the company we use from the dates 5th to 18th October 2015 Opencar in Quesada (collection and drop off car from the office in Quesada or the airport)

Price
GROUP A (very small)
CHEVROLET SPARK OR SIMILAR
232,14 EUR

GROUP B
RENAULT CLIO 5P OR SIMILAR
269,29 EUR

Hope this helps,

Jan

Hi Jan,
Do you pre-book a local taxi, i.e Quesada Taxis?
I'm asking this as we used an airport taxi from Alicante to Lo Marabu, Dona Pepa, Quesada on Sunday May 10th (dinner-time) and we were charged 61 Euros!!!!

Little wonder people aren't using the Elche taxis and there are so many 'Pirate taxis' on the road.

Yes definitely pre-book. You can often do that by email. Pre-booking is easy when you know your flight times.

Try the taxi's on our list here: taxis-in-quesada-f123/registered-taxis-list-contact-details-in-and-around-quesada-t2412.html

You can get a price from a few and then decide which one to book. We used Quesada Taxi the last few times, very good 45E one way and only 40E going back (prices Nov 2014), if booked at the same time in advance.

We have found the local taxi prices are not much different than the 'illegal' taxi's sometimes. So worth being legal and giving our local economy the trade.

Tommy,

Why don't you pickup the car at the airport ? Usually a lot cheaper...
You can easily compare car rental prices on www.holidayautos.com

Hi,

Tommy doesn't want to drive from the airport as he said he wants to drive a left hand car for the first time on local roads - I can understand that as it must be quite daunting having never driven a left hand car before and then being thrown in the deep end  by driving from the airport.

We did the same a number of years ago and became used to driving on the quieter roads first.

Hi

Driving from Alicante Airport is not so bad. I rented a car at Alicante Airport in June and the roads are not that busy. Just make sure you have SatNav.

I got to Germany 8 months ago and was thrown in the deep end when I bought my car. I had never driven on the 'wrong' side of the road, as South Africa drives on the left like the UK. When I picked up the car I had to go from Heidelberg to Ludwigshaven to get the car home. That meant having to go through Mannheim... those are quite big cities!! But I managed just fine and so far have not had any incidents.

It was quite strange when I had my assignment in the UK a few weeks ago and I had to drive the Client's VW Tiguan on the left again and being in a totally strange place, driving quite a large and strange car on the tiny roads around Arundel and Chichester was a bit of a challenge, but I quickly got used to it. And then I got back to Germany last week and had to re-adjust again to drive my car on the right... and next month I'm back in the UK again! Confusion is... :?
And the adventure continues... :-)
