Insuring UK car

Insuring UK car

Postby Paul Uden » Wed Oct 05, 2022 5:56 am

Are there any Spanish residents with a car in the UK who have found a suitable insurer other than Keith Michaels? I would like a comparative quote from someone else too if possible. Thank you in advance for any suggestions.

I suspect that the few UK brokers who do offer insurance for non residents will all boil down to http://www.tempcover.com so you may find the best deal by going direct to them.

Thanks Darro. I had a look, but unfortunately it didn't recognise my personalised number plate so I couldn't get a quote. However, reading a little more, it looks like I need my vehicle to be covered permanently in order to be legal, even though it is mostly parked off road in my UK garage.

I believe if you SORN it, it does not need VEL or insurance, if you're comfortable with no insurance whatsoever whilst it's in a garage. Then look for the cover you need when you put it back on the road.
it's common practice with classic cars etc only used for a couple of months a year

Yes, you're right about the SORN, but I don't want to do that. Thank you
