INTERNATIONAL DRIVING LICENCE

Hi everyone,

I am planning to hire a car in New Zealand next year, and the car hire firm tell me they require either an official translation of my Spanish Licence OR that I show an International Drivers Licence. Given that both UK and Spanish licences are in the EU format, ir seems a bit unneccesary, but I don't want to get to NZ and take the chance on them accepting my Spanish licence!
It looks as though an IDL can be purchased from the DGT - does anyone have experience of doing this?
