ITV Query

Hi this is for all the knowlegible motorists or garages or mechanics my sister owns a Hyundi i30 which is 10 year old next April but her current ITV runs out in March So what she needs to know is if she gets it ITV,d in February 23 will she still get to use it unchanged until Feb 25 or will she only get the 12 months?

You can of course take a car for an ITV whenever you choose, you do not have to wait until it's near expiry, you will only get one months credit for going early though so a maximum of a 13 month certificate.

They will date the ITV expiry to the date of the cars 11th birthday so to speak. The next ITV due will be exactly eleven years from the first registration date.

When us the the first ITV due on a new car in Spain? My car is coming up to two years.
What documents are required? I guess ownership docs as well as service book.


Are all cars required to have an emissions sticker; when us deadline and where can one obtain these?

First ITV is due at four years old then every two years until ten years old, after which it’s yearly.

The omissions comes into effect from 1st Jan so get it asap. The town hall don't know where the boundaries are, they have to get signs and cameras in place, can't see it happening by 1st Jan but you still need it, perhaps the police can fine you if they see you haven't one displayed, who knows? So for 5 euros why chance it. Just get one.

The emissions scheme might come into being on Jan 1st but that does not mean that actual zones come into being at that time, they will be rolled out piecemeal across the country therefore there is no imperitive to be rushing to get one.

Stickers are in fact entirely voluntary and in any case will only apply to municipalities with over 50,000 inhabitants so not having a one simply means that you will not be able to take your car into those. They are not required got an ITV.
