ITV renewal, advice please.

ITV renewal, advice please.

Postby Black » Thu Aug 20, 2020 7:36 pm

My car is coming up for it's first renewal. Last ITV test was the import one so I was accompanied.

Can someone guide me through the procedure? Website address for online booking, also what documents do I need to present?

Is there any preference between going to either Torrevieja or Redovan?

Heard poor reviews of the Torre station. Always used the station on the road to Orihuela (towards the Vega Baja hospital. You can just turn up. Sorry but I haven't got the paperwork in front of me to give you the certificate numbers, but I just take 2 documents with me every time. One is a pale blue colour and the other one is a green colour. It should be obvious when you take a look at the paperwork in your file from when you had your last one done. That's all you will need (plus the payment). They are very friendly and most of them can speak English. Hope this helps.

I've heard good reports of Torre including from a friend I was talking to just last week who had one of his cars tested there very recently.

Obviously I haven't been to every station since they reopened after the lock down but I think you'll find that it's the norm to require an appointment.

For sure that was the case at San Bartolome (near hospital) a couple of weeks ago when I had my own car tested there.

Some of the testers there speak passable English but not all.

I would normally use Redovan but heard they were demanding fluent Spanish (or an interpreter) hence switching to San Bartolome.

I know it’s a little way from you but the ITV stationary SanJavier is really excellent been there 4 times service is great even a freebie bottle of water whilst they do there job & your sitting in a chair, it’s probably 25 minutes from Quesada you can miss the tolls on AP7 getOn at Mil Palmeras follow the signs 10 minutes down road if you cannot find a decent one there

But you still need to go to your local ITV station when finished as in Murcia the test is different to the Community of Valencia.

Thanks all, I think San Bartolomene sounds best. What is the website for online booking?

As has been mentioned before, you can have your car ITV anywhere you like. It will be legal whichever region does the testing.
However (there's always a however) the Valencia region insists on a noise emission test which costs 10 euro (which is why ITV in this area is more expensive) and this has to be done within a month of the ITV.

I don't think the police can fine you for only having an ITV without the emission test but they can insist you have one done.
Again, yet another however, it could depend on the mood the policeman is in whether he fines you or not.

I Renewed my ITV at San Bartolomene today, with no appointment. Unfortunately it failed the test on a dodgy light, but I went back later having sorted it and passed. I was told if I went back for the retest on the same day it was free, otherwise I would have to pay again
