Itv stations

why are non Spanish speaking ex pats being penalised at itv stations by having to have a translator with them ???? Is this a new rule as I didn't need to have a translator last year !!!

The reason for this, is that while we are in the State of Alarm, the examiner will NOT enter the vehicle being tested ( for obvious reasons ) Therefore the vehicle owner must be able to understand his instructions - in Spanish !!!

I took my car for an itv in Torrevieja on Saturday. I said to the examiner that I only spoke a little Spanish. He asked me where I was from, and he gave me my instructions in English. Very friendly and helpful, and said have a nice day when he had finished.

Strange !,,, I took my car to the same station and was told I had to have a translator and was given an appointment for June 5 th.!!! Wouldn't do it there and then although there was only 3 cars waiting .

I think they are currently doing ITV's by appointment only, most probably to allow them to catch up with all the ones that expired during "lockdown"

Correct, ITV by appointment only until further notice.

I speak very little Spanish and I’d heard about this new situation as my ITV was last week...my solution was to write out on an A4 sheet of paper all the English words required and translated into Spanish..so Steering, Breaks, Window Washer, Wipers, Lights, Indicators etc...All written in Spanish too...Worked a treat...
