MOTORCYCLE INSURANCE

MOTORCYCLE INSURANCE

Postby Bulldog971 » Fri Jan 11, 2019 12:42 am

I was thinking about bringing a 1000cc motorcycle over to Spain on a permanent basis. Re-registering to spanish plates etc. I was wondering does anyone have a large motorcycle out here and what would I expect to pay for cheap as chips Insurance. Thanks in Advance.

My insurance on a 900cc is about double what I was paying in the UK- and that's only TPFT instead of the fully comp I used to have. I paid about €280 with Liberty Seguros. It's not a fortune but it's relatively expensive.

Thanks Tom, just what I expected really. We have a very small suzuki car and the insurance is really expensive. Food for thought.

I thought about getting one of my my UK bikes transferred to Spanish plates, but my friends experience put me off. The cost of replacing the headlights, the exhaust and the fees and inspection was in excess of £1400. This on a BMW F800.

So I purchased a new bike here in Spain, seeing as I'll be spending some months each year here. Got a good deal, saving a few hundred pounds over the price of an identical bike in the UK. Also they had a deal tied in with an insurance company, which I thought was good price and cover.

Its only a 411cc bike, but with the speed limits other than on the motorways being all over the place, and the roads in general being quiet here makes it ideal. Prefer using it over the 1200cc bike I bought with me in the van, which I won't have to do ever again.
