New Car
New Car

We have finally decided to ditch renting and buy a car . . .
We have looked at Dacia Sandero Stepway in the UK and it looks to have a much better spec and finish than I was expecting for the stupidly low price, so that is what we are plumping for as it seems a no brainer for a new car at the same price as 10 year old cars I see advertised - with no ITV worries for 4 years . . I know the Spanish models/ spec is a bit different from UK but basically the same car. .
My question is has anyone had experience of a Dacia in Spain and does it hold up OK under Spanish sun etc.? and are running costs/servicing comparable to other makes?
Thanks

I have noticed that new LHD Dacia’s are available in the UK and quite cheap too. Admittedly, there’d be tax to pay in Spain but the steering wheel will be on the right ( left ) side.

We bought one twelve months ago. We are nothing short of delighted with it. I would highly recommend the dealership and salesman we dealt with too. If you need any info please let me know.

Andrew
Was it Elche or Torre you bought from? . . I have had an email conversation with a Francisco in Renault Elche about my interest . .
Am back out in mid March and would want to progress then.

We went into our local Renault dealer, here in the U.K., and we were told they can only buy LHD’s in 10s. We only wanted one?

Don't think of bringing a new car to Spain, LHD or not. It will have to go through an ITV to ensure the technical details are correct and, if you haven't owned the car for 6 months or more, there will be a 12% municipal registration tax on top of other fees.

We've had a Stepway for about 18 months, it's been 100% reliable. I can't think of any reason why it would be any worse in Spain than any other brand. Sun damage I think is largely dependent on colour, we have white which should be least susceptible. We've not had any additional costs, just the first service which was cheap enough. I'd be inclined to go for the "Laureate" trim because the air-con is a must.

Thanks Tom
That was my thinking, white with air con . . Glad to hear of a couple of happy customers, insurance quotes I've had have been quite good too
Thanks
