OK car hire beware

We hired a car from OK hire Alicante airport on the 19 November returned to then yesterday, just to inform people that we have like many have our own excess insurance. On arrival everything fine till we refused their own insurance they told us it was ilegal our company told us some try this on, we refused they then started a long tirade of why we should have theirs again we refused. We then we told to check the car ,as many of you know that particular day we had heavy rain and thunderstorms we tried our best but we're soaked and so was there form, we took the car then arrived back yesterday and we had it inspected he had a very intense look round and found nothing till at the last minute without bending down found some scrapes on the bottom of the bumper which we could only see by getting down on our knees, they looked as they had been their sometime, to cut a long story short they charged our card €360, for this, we have of course been in touch with our insurance company and think all ok, but I do believe that this is a scam they use ,,,so please beware when hiring from companies like these, and if you do hire and it's a Opel Corsa check every inch of the car.

Most companies frown on having your own insurance, might cost a bit more but less hassle I think to go with them.

This under the bumper thing is a new scam, know few people it has happened to when no other obvious damage they can charge for .

Polop, I,m sure everyone appreciates your warning,vote with your feet.they are cheap for a reason,
,But when you get off the plane all folks want to do Is get to there destination,Who wants another job of going round a rental car checking for unseeable damage,
If you are not happy with rip off car hire firms, there are many others ,Aquacar, Coys TO NAME 2, or get a taxi or bus or even buy a car if your a regular visitor ……………..you do have a choice.

Can’t understand their business attitude- they rip you off once, then lose your custom for life.

To be honest, this is one of the reasons why I now choose to drive to and from the UK, rather than fly. I try and make the drive (and the places I stop on route) part of the holiday.

Thanks for replies, just to say that I have used other Cheap companies before and never had a problem, I gave also avoided companies such as Goldcar, Dickmens etc. What ever about companies frowning on using your own insurance it is our right to use it if they are allowed to try to bully people into using their insurance they have won. My real point was don't use them if you have your own insurance,2,Take no car where they give you a diagram for you to mark scratches ,if the diagram has no marks ask them to go round with you.3,If a problem when bringing back car and you don't agree ask for complaint book. Lastly make sure you have a good holiday. Thank you
