Yes, the DGT is aware of and has issued alerts about scams that involve fake fines sent via email or SMS. The DGT warns that it never notifies fines through these channels directly, but only via official post or the Electronic Road Address (DEV). If you receive a message, do not click any links, delete it immediately, and check for any fines on the DGT's official website or through the mi DGT app.

Many such sites including DGT post these warnings.
