I don't know the significance of the letters however mine starts with Y and ends with P, my wife's similarly starts with Y but ends with H.

Both were acquired during the same joint appointment in Orihuela in 2017.

The problem may be that the seller (vendador) has not put his NIE onto the form which would cause problems perhaps to avoid having to pay for the transfer. Try putting his NIE into the form - if you have it? Otherwise contact him immediately because the repercussions could be a bit drastic.
Best of luck!

He has put his DNI in the form. I can see it.

I spoke with an asesoria today and they checked just to see if there was a problem with either my NIE or his DNI. I was told there is no problem at all. The fee is €250 to go get it done by them, but I need a contract of sale, the sellers passport etc. I am waiting for him to reply to my Whatsapp message.

Im getting suspicious now.

Could I make a suggestion if you haven't heard back from the seller. As you have a copy of the Modelo 02 (is that the right Modelo?)the seller has filled in would you download the form and copy all the details he has filled in and see if you get the same error. Bee

He replied to me today to say he would send me the required documents. Such as proof of his DNI, Passport and a contract of sale.

I already have that form you linked too, he sent it to me completed and its signed by both of us. Do you know what website I put it in? Does it require me to have a digital signature @clave thing? I dont have that.

If DGT you will need an electronic signature unfortunately to do it on line. Otherwise make an appointment with DGT in Alicante. Can it be done at the Post Office/Correos.

One thing you might check. Has the seller typed in your name exactly as it is on your NIE. It is probably some simple error which is causing the problem.

D02ES did you manage to sort the transfer of the car? The easiest way to do it is the Gestor once you have the paperwork. They charge €50 plus the ITP - Transfer Tax.

Here is a website on Second-hand cars and all the steps to complete. There is a link to the value of your car which is published in a BOE every year for calculating the ITP. Once you have that value you pay it at a bank, post office or official ATV office on Modelo 620.

Thanks for that. I have not done it yet, he is still to send me proofs.

Driving in Spain is cheaper than UK, and miles cheaper than Ireland, so I wont complain. But the transfer tax seems like a rubbish idea.

I bought my car last year from FWR Eurocars in El Altet and for some unknown reason Alicante would not accept our NIEs to register the transfer. He took all the docs to Murcia including iPhone pictures of theNIEs and they accepted the NIEs no problem. May be worth giving Murcia a go.
