Problem getting an ITV for our motorhome.

Problem getting an ITV for our motorhome.

Postby LeeG » Mon Apr 01, 2024 1:54 pm

Today I tried to get our motorhome ITV'd but it was rejected due to the awning, solar panel and bike rack not being registered on the ITV form. The motorhome was bought with these things already fitted.
Has anyone else had this problem, if so how did you rectify it?
Thanks in advance.

Which ITV station was that at? mine was done in October at the Torrevieja station and no mention of the awning, bike rack, air con unit, TV ariel or bike rack only the tow bar is on the paperwork, if its not to far it might be easier to take it to the station that did the last ITV

It depends when these items were fitted and who fitted them.
If they're not registered on the documentation you may have to remove them for the ITV, or get a registered engineer to refit them and get them matriculated onto your documentation.

Thank you, they were fitted when we bought it.
So I hope we don't have to remove them.
This rule was bought in in November 2022.

I read elsewhere that this has to be done by November 2024

If you brought it from a dealer and they fitted the panels they should be able to get them put on the paperwork.

Maybe the ITV personal are being more meticulously at the moment as they are in dispute in this area, did they charge you?

This is not a new situation. In 2010 we had to remove items from a vehicle we were importing from the UK because they weren't homologised. Last year we bought a Spanish VW T4 and the Spanish mechanic who was part way through converting it told us it had passed two ITVs with a roof fan, swivel front seats and the rear seats and seatbelts removed. When my local garage took for it's next ITV the passed the van but told the garage I need to get them homologated for the next ITV. I have got [email protected] working on this now. They advertise on Facebook.

Further to my post regarding the inclusion of things fitted to our motorhome that have to be included on documents.
I found this on line that explains it:

How can I justify that I had the elements installed previously?
We have 3 possible ways:

Purchase invoice prior to 11/01/2022
With an assembly certificate dated prior to 11/01/2022
With a responsible declaration signed by the owner.
I hope this helps anyone with the same problem.

I brought mine in November 2023, as I'm now the owner can I make a declaration that they are fitted correctly and the items will be checked and added to the paperwork ?

Thank-you for your post
