Pros and Cons of bring a UK car to Spain

Main advantage of buying in the UK, especially if you're not buying a nearly new car, the MILEAGE IS GENUINE, and you can often get a service history with it.
It really makes my blood boil to see the odometer on a 2nd hand Spanish cars. A 2009 car with 4 owners, the steering wheel so shiny you could use it for shaving, a big diesel engine and the odometer says it's only done 100,000 kms. Yea, Right!!!!
As for a service history. Forget it. Doesn't exist. If it did it would show the true mileage of the car, so it's easier for the dealer to scrap it, rather than a. dmit the real mileage.

Altering the odometer happens in the UK as well, if you have the software and equipment it can easily be done but a quick cheapie car check should pick it up but only if previous owner has suppled the info on their log books .Old mot certs are a good way of checking.
My main issue is with the price difference sometimes 2,3 times the price of buying in the UK.
Apparently ,Spanish owners hang on to their cars a lot longer than us Brits, and basically run them into the ground so therefore the secondhand market is not great,so supply and demand determined prices.
My price bracket is between 2-3k and most of the cars i seen have high mileage .Most have some sort of service history which is helpful when the mileage is a bit high ,rust is not an issue even in the UK (it used to be !!)when was the last time you saw a rusty car which is less than 10-12 yrs old ?
The last time we were over(July) I took home a couple of local papers to study the car prices, and there is a price difference worth investigating.

I am a retired motor dealer and brought 2 UK reg'd cars over both of which I have since sold and bought a new Spanish reg'd car for no real reason other than convenience. I did however sell both cars here.
However the following may be of interest.
I had a friend call me the other day who has just done a deal with a customer who has just returned from Spain and has taken (I think) a 2012 Hyundai Santa Fe Auto Diesel in part exchange. He would do you a deal with the car that you're thinking of bringing out here if it may be of interest.
If not we may get it out here and sell it unless it gets sold first in the UK
If this is if interest let me know and I can get you more information. I think it had around 200K which is circa 124,000 miles.
Obviously LHD and Spanish Registered
If you have an interest please let me know & we coeur discuss it further

No the UK cars that I sold were RHD not left.
In years gone by LHD cars in the UK were around half the value of a RHD car but the situation has totally reversed and they now fetch more in the UK as a result.
UK equivalent cars here in Spain are cheaper than their Spanish counterparts because here is just a different market, with cars not deteriorating at the same rate. The cars I did bring here I did ok with but I had of course bought them at Uk trade prices. One I sold to a Spaniard purely because he new it was around 60% cheaper than the LHD Spanish registered cars and the other was sold on the same basis.
If you do bring one over the best you can hope for is finding someone wanting to return to have a deal with.
On reflection (depending of course what your car is) you would certainly be better selling it there and buying here unless you can find something that suits that is LHD
Hope this helps.

Yes I understand RHD cars do not sell that well or hold their price in Spain, but in your opinion is it worth the paperwork hassle of buying a LHD car in the UK (either UK reg. or Spanish reg.) because of the price difference ?
By the way , how much is your mate asking for the Hyundai and where is he in the UK.
Once again thanks for the info .
