Traveling with adog

Postby Rish » Mon Mar 21, 2022 1:46 pm

Hello all
Just an enquiry, I'm coming over to Quesada at the end of May and wondered if anyone has driven over with a dog as I am finding it quite confusing to documents I'll need any help would be appreciated.
Also once there I may need a dog sitter for a couple of trips I may take to Granada etc

Thanks in advance

We took our dog over for 2 months in December. Need to go to your vets and discuss all the requirements for paperwork. There is a lot of it and costs £160. When we arrived in Quesada went to local vets and our dog now has Spanish passport, only cost Euro 70 and we can travel back and forth without paying for UK paperwork. Just need to ensure dog has uptodate jabs etc.
Talk to your UK vet. Had to show all his paperwork at Dover.

Thanks Azur
Like the sound of the Spanish passport.
Did the Spanish vet just need microchip and rabies proof also how long does it take as I'm over for a month

Thanks again

Azur did you pay someone to help you with the Spanish Passport? Only asking because it only cost us €17.00 seems a big difference!

We went to Granada with our dog and she loved it. The Albacáin district is very suitable as there are lots of street cafes and little cobbled squares. Obviously we weren’t able to go into the Alhambra but we were able to see the gardens and palaces from the Mirador, just minutes from where we stayed.

Have you put this on the wrong post?

The rabies injection is given annually in Spain so you would have to be sure that you are going to be travelling annually to Spain with your pet to keep the Spanish/EU passport up-to-date.

It would be best all round if the EU would recognise the UK Passport. I thought there were ongoing talks on this.
