UK car

I’m thinking of selling my Spanish in Spain car and trying to buy a new RHD car in the UK to come back to Algorfa and pick up the wife and two dogs, then travel back to the UK to live. However, it seems you need both a UK licence, a UK address and possibly a UK licence in order to get insured and road taxed. As I am currently resident in Spain, I have none of these requirements. Has anyone any experience of buying a UK car whilst resident in Spain?

Why not use your Spanish car to return to the UK and sell your Spanish car once you're established in the UK.

You'll probably get a good price for your Spanish car and there are a few specalist dealers that provide Spanish registered cars to Brits wishing to move to Spain. If you take this route do get in touch with one or two to get an idea of price & what documents they'll need.

Hi Paul, my Spanish car is a bit on the small side for relocating the wife and the pooches, plus other possessions. But if it’s not possible to buy a Uk car, then that is what we will do.

Sell your Spanish car in Spain. Use a one way rental (delivered in Spain and dropped off in UK either car or van). Plenty of those companies around and you can use your Spanish licence before changing it in UK. No need for a fixed UK address and use your Spanish licence until you have an address to send it to in UK.

We will be coming over in October in our English car and had planned to drive back at some point in the first 6 months to sell it in the UK. You could buy it from us.

I have a Spanish registered car which was originally a Uk car, and I still have the headlights for UK spec as well.
I’m looking to change it and debating taking it back to the Uk for a better price.
