ROCK & POP CHOIR
ROCK & POP CHOIR
by hoppy1 » Thu Sep 29, 2016 10:48 am
Hello, CALLING ALL CHOIR MASTERS & SINGERS IN THE QUESADA AREA.
Is there anyone out there willing to lead a Pop & Rock Choir for a new choir we want to set up in Quesada Area. We have tried a few choirs and they are all brilliant, but most are too far away. We would like to start a Pop & Rock Choir close by for the Quesada area. We need to find someone who can read music and is prepared to take on the task of Choir Master. We could help with the admin but are not capable of leading. NOW TO THE SINGERS, please reply if you want to sing as we need as many people as possible, both men & women, but especially men, as most choirs are lacking in men. You don't need to have a brilliant voice just be able to hold a tune. We were both in a UK choir for 6 years, and can honestly say it gives you the most wonderful buzz to sing, it helps you to breath better, and it also helps to keep the mind active as you learn the words to each song. We hope you will agree, that it will be great to incorporate some newer songs, from artists such as The Killers, Elliie Gouldimg, Jess Glynne, Gary Barlow, and of course some classics from Elbow, ELO, Adele, Queen, Abba etc, etc. Please reply if you are interested in either leading or singing - we need you to make this happen. Looking forward to loads of replies.

Hello Hoppy
I think that sounds like fun. I can carry a tune but can't read music or anything sophisticated like that! I would be interested if you can get something going.

Great thanks for the interest, we have got 8 already that's not bad for one day and of course will keep you posted. We think we have found a venue just need to finalise the arrangements. It's fab that one of you has a husband interested, we have two men already so tell him he won't be alone. We need a nice mix of male and female if possible, if not, we will work with what we have got. There will be no auditions to worry about just come along and sing with us together. We want to make it as easy as possible so we can all relax and enjoy the experience. If you can put the word around to any friends you have that may be interested that would be we appreciated. WE STILL NEED SOMEONE TO LEAD US. if we dont get anyone to lead us, don't worry we will still get together and manage somehow.

Hi. My wife is very interested in joining the choir and I might be but am not confident about whether I would be good enough ! We are both in our 60's and live in Quesada. Look forward to hearing from you.

Hi Hoppy1
I've just seen your post. I run a singing group, which is something like you are wanting to form. We were set up in Daya Nueva which is only about 15min from Quesada. The group is called Dayamantes, which is a play on the Spanish word diamantes meaning diamonds. We do have a few members who don't live locally, Torrevieja,Benimar and Callosa.
I do all the arranging for the group and play guitar. I don't read music, but I do have over 50 years playing guitar in bands and solo. We will perform without amplification in small venues and indoors, but larger and outdoor gigs we use a PA.
Our current repertoire has quite a large spread of popular music across the decades and includes:-
Why Do Fools Fall in Love, Rivers of Babylon, Island of Dreams, Creeque Alley, Mrs Robinson, Valerie, Hit the Road Jack, Space Oddity, Run (Snow Patrol),Rolling in the Deep.
We also have a few Spanish language songs which we learn phonetically as none of is fluent unfortunately, which go down very well in a Spanish care home where we perform regularly. These include; Besame Mucho, Quizas, Quizas, Quizas, Amapola, Maria Eleana.
The group has been established since 2005, and I have been musical director since 2009. We have about 18 members when they are all present, but a better number would be 25-30 for that real depth of sound. hitting that number has proved difficult, so you and your interested people would be very welcome to join us.
