We have been to this event several times over the years, but this year the usual compere was missing. his usual repartee was sadly missing. There was an introduction, but no one mentioned the "elephant in the room". This was then followed by the band playing some carols and the they went on the play "The Birdie song" of all things. They played for 30 minutes, and we saw several people go up to band leader and ask when we were going to start singing (as no prior announcement had been made). when eventually the singing started, they had to hustle round to find a microphone for the drummer to announce songs. A very disappointing event this year. Singing was subdued and we left after just a few songs. We sat having a drink and noticed many people drifting away. A disappointing evening, as we had taken a guest to this event for the first time.

Must admit exactly the same thoughts. We heard them sing Georgy Girl which I must admit surprised me a lot
We had our daughter with us from Australia and she was a bit surprised as the carols seemed to be in a haphazard order and not as per the newspaper said they would be
Overall, dissapointing
