Ribbon race 9th October

The ribbon race this year will be on Wednesday, October 9, 2019 at 18:30 hours on the Malecon del Soto. All women of any age can participate and they should enroll in the information office of the city council of Rojales.

Registration deadline is Friday October 4th.
By enrolling, the town hall will provide free sashes for each participant.
Men (of any age) who wish to participate have to present themselves on day of the ribbon race at the Malecon del Soto before the start of the act.

Small kids will have to bring their own bikes.

For older men, the bike is provided..

For those that haven't seen one, it's a bit like a weird blind date.
First the women that are participating parade in escorted by a band and take seats provided.
All the women wear a sash with their name on.
Then the men that are participating, take it in turns to gallop with their spears to spear a
ribbon
hanging from a framework.
In practice, the charger is a rusty old bike, and the spears are pencils!
If the rider spears a
ribbon
- each of which carries the name of one of the women - he goes to claim his prize. i.e. the sash of the corresponding woman plus a kiss, whilst he gives her a bunch of flowers.
