Sierra Espuma

Sierra Espuma

Has anyone been for a days out drive to this National Park just down from Mucia, if so could you give us some advice on route, things to see, possible stopping off points.
The reason we ask is our elderly parents are coming for a visit for 4 days and in the winter obviously the normal beach days aren't going to work, hence taking them out for days out driving, they can walk a little so thought the Sierra Espuma National park would be a good option.
Also if anyone has any tips for visiting Elche such as parking, sights to see etc it is another trip out we are considering.
Lastly whilst on the subject of visiting places, we can't do MDD's as they are very fussy eaters and only like English style food. We have booked at Sands Bistro in Torrevieja (and this is an excellent English restaurant if you don't know it but we are looking for other options if anyone knows and little Gems.
The days out are from Torrevieja. Guys thank you so much

We did a circular drive round Sierra Espuña in October from Alhama De Murcia to Totana. There is a visitor information cabin and a restaurant just further along but they are both closed on Mondays. Since we went on a Monday I can’t say what they are like d’oh! There is also a walk on a concrete walkway where the numbers are on the map which make it easy to walk. You park at the visitor centre and walk along to the restaurant. The total distance is 2.5 km (1.25 km each way) there is also parking at the restaurant and picnic benches if you didn’t want to walk.

The drive past the restaurant to Totano was great but only if you enjoy switchback roads with steep drops. We did thankfully. If you don’t fancy that, just drive back the way you came.

Hope the above information helps you, we enjoyed our drive and walk.

The drive through from Alhama to Totana is nice and some nice views, the restaurant is good, used to have the wild boar come down to the fence by the restaurant, not sure if they still do as they were culled a couple of year ago, you 'might be lucky to see eagles and mouflon sheep, about half way thought there is another’s road that lead up to another viewing point near the radar station (access prohibited) so you can drive up but would have to come back down again (there is a viewing point), if you drive through there is another Cafe before you leave, there are some nice restaurants after you lead the park on the way to Totana, on the way you can stop at Aledo a small village on a hill top, interesting
Past Totana you willbe able to visit Santa Eulalia, not sur if they are still open for food, on the other side of the road from here is a road which if you drive up you will see statues of the stations of the cross , at the top the views are wonderful,
You can continue down into Totana lots of restaurants there, Wednesday is the local market so roads busy as it’s a street market
