Virgin of the rosary fiestas in Rojales

These start on September 23rd and continue till October 11th and copies of the programme book can be picked up at the town hall & civic offices.

Here's the events, including bingo, the ribbon race and bull running:-

SUNDAY, 17th SEPTEMBER

At 9 a.m. Local Route SL-CV 148 “Huerta Histórica de Rojales”. Guided Tour and Walk commencing and finishing at the weekly market grounds. Information and registration at the Tourist Office of Rojales Town Hall.
At 10 a.m. In the Rodeo Caves “Arts and Craftwork Meeting” with workshops forchildren and CELTIC SEAS in concert.
At 12 midday In the Mengolero Hall, opening of the exhibi- tion “The Hemp Fiber Culture in the Vega Baja Region. Callosa de Segura, Town of the Hemp Fiber”

SATURDAY, 23rd SEPTEMBER

At 9 p.m. Bingo on the Church Square, organised by the Brotherhood Virgen del Rosario. Everyone interested has the opportunity to enjoy dinner at the Bar installed by the Broth- erhood. Prior to the finish, Rojales Town Council will provide delicious Hot Chocolate with a Bun to all those present.

SUNDAY, 24th SEPTEMBER

At 6 a.m. “Rosario de la Aurora” (Reciting the Rosary at Sunrise), with the participation of an “Auroros” Association from Benijófar
At 9 a.m. Holy Mass in the Parish Church “San Pedro Apóstol” of Rojales.
At 10 a.m. Tribute to our Senior Citizens. Small gifts will be given to our “Elders”. We will be accompanied on our tour by the Music Band “Santa Cecilia”.
At 12 noon. Holy Mass.
At 7 p.m. Offering of Flowers to our Patron Saint, the Holy “Virgen del Rosario”. Departure from Rojales Health Centre. We will be accompanied by the “Dulzaina” (Small Clarinet) and Drum, and the Music Bands “La Lira” and “Santa Cecilia”, with the participation of our Queens of Fiestas, Authorities and all the Local Associations wishing to take part. At the end, the anthem of the Virgin will be sung.

THURSDAY 28th SEPTEMBER

At 7 p.m. Holy Mass in the Church “San José” of Ciudad Quesada in honour of our Patron Saint.
At 7.30 p.m. In the Sociocultural Centre, next to Rojales Town Hall, Conference “The Policy of Charles the Third of Spain for the colonisation of the Vega Baja Region: Rojales” given by Dr. Mr. ANTONIO GIL OLCINA, Professor of Regional Geographi- cal Analysis and Honorary Chancellor of Alicante University.

FRIDAY 29th SEPTEMBER

At 8 p.m. In the Malecón del Soto promenade, Autumm Concert by the Young Symphonic Orchestra of Torrevieja.

SATURDAY, 30th SEPTEMBER

At 5 p.m. 20th 10 & 5 Km Athletics Race “Villa de Rojales” organised by the Sports Department of Rojales Town Coun- cil. Starting from the Malecón del Soto promenade. Children at 5:00 p.m. and Adults at 7:00 p.m.
SUNDAY, 1st OCTOBER
At 10 a.m. In the Rodeo Caves “Arts and Craftwork Meet- ing” with workshops and performances.
At 7 p.m. In the Capitol Theatre, Music Band Exchange Programme. Banda Juvenil Unión Musical Torrevejense and Banda Juvenil Unión Musical Santa Cecilia of Rojales.

TUESDAY, 3rd OCTOBER

At 11 a.m. In the Capitol Theatre, theatre performance for the students of “La Encantá” High School.

WEDNESDAY, 4th OCTOBER

At 7:30 p.m. Holy Mass in honour of our Patron Saint in Plaza del Soto.

THURSDAY, 5th OCTOBER

At 11.30 a.m. In the Capitol Theatre “MARI POMPAS”, for the pupils of the primary school “Poeta Miguel Hernández”.
At 12 noon. At the Indoors Market, live broadcasting of ONDA CERO Radio Station.
At 7:30 p.m. Holy Mass in honour of our Patron Saint in calle Almoradí.
FRIDAY, 6th OCTOBER
At 7:30 p.m. Holy Mass in honour of our Patron Saint in the Malecón del Soto. At the end of the Mass, the choir “Voces Amigas” of Rojales will sing a serenade in honour of Our Lady.

SATURDAY, 7th OCTOBER

“VIRGEN DEL ROSARIO’S DAY”
Big Heads traditional parading round the streets. They will be accompanied by the “Dulzaina” and Drum.
At 9 a.m. Holy Mass in the Parish Church “San Pedro Apóstol” of Rojales.
At 10 a.m. Music band “Santa Cecilia” parading round the streets.
At 10.30 a.m. In the Malecón del Soto promenade, Games and Bouncy Castles for Children.
At 7 p.m. Holy Mass in honour of the “Virgen del Rosa- rio” sung by the choir “Voces Amigas” of Rojales, with the attendance of the Authorities and Queens of Fiestas.
At 8 p.m. Solemn Procession in honour of our Patron Saint the “Virgen del Rosario”, accompanied by the “Dulzaina” and Drum and the Music Band “Santa Cecilia”.
At the end of the Procession, a magnificent Firework Display will be given by Pirotecnia Ferrández from Redován.
At 11 p.m. Open Air Dance in the Malecón del Soto. Live music by “AIRE PURO” Music Band.

SUNDAY, 8th OCTOBER

At 9 p.m. Fancy Dress Parade. Everybody is welcome to take part. Register at the Information Office at Rojales Town Hall! Departure from Rojales Health Centre. Route: Cortes Valen- cianas, Valentín Fuster, F. Serrano, Puente Carlos III, San Antonio, Plaza de España, Rafael Aráez, Orihuela, Puente Reina Sofía, Malecón del Soto.
At 11 p.m. Open Air Dance in the Malecón del Soto. Live music by “DR. JEKYLL” Music Band.

MONDAY, 9th OCTOBER

“VALENCIAN COMMUNITY’S DAY”
At 10:30 a.m. In the Malecón del Soto promenade, Games and Bouncy Castles for Children.
At 6:15 p.m. Music band “La Lira” parading round the streets, collecting the contestants of the ribbon race. (All the participants will depart from Rojales Town Hall)
At 6:30 p.m. Ribbon Race in the Malecon del Soto. Infor- mation and Registration at the Office Office of Rojales Town Hall.

TUESDAY, 10th OCTOBER

At 6:30 p.m. “Running of Bulls” through the streets of Rojales for all the public, starting at the Malecón del Soto.

At 9 p.m. 8th Festival “Night of Stars Rojales 2023” in the Malecón del Soto promenade.
At 11 p.m. In the Malecón del Soto, Disco- Mobile by DJ Manu Diaz y Sergio Salinas.

THURSDAY 12th OCTOBER

At 9 p.m. Open Air Cinema at the Malecón del Soto prome- nade with the movie “Lightyear”.

FRIDAY 13th OCTOBER

SATURDAY 14th OCTOBER

From 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. In the Rodeo Caves, Handpan work- shop at the Replaceta del Teatro.
At 4 p.m. Uphill time trial “Virgen del Rosario” at Calle San Pedro. Start at the Hydraulic Monumental Site, following through Calle Héroes de África towards Calle San Pedro.
At 8 p.m. In the Rodeo Caves, David Canales and other guest artists in concert at the Replaceta del Teatro.

At 8 p.m. In the Capitol Theatre, Concert “VIENTOS DEL PUEBLO” by FRASKITO and company. Tribute to the poet Miguel Hernández.

SUNDAY 29th OCTOBER

From 10 a.m. In the natural spot El Recorral, day of coexist- ence dedicated to our Senior Citizens. Tourist train service, guided tour through the El Recorral Lagoons and singer Fernando will sing “Songs of a Lifetime”.

Correction of errors in the book of the Patronals of the Virgin of Rosario 2023 Patronals.
Because there have been some changes in programming and hiring artists, we clarify that on September 24th the Rosario de la Aurora will not be held, it will be held on October 1st.
The group that will perform at the Malecon del Soto on Friday October 7 will be Tocadiscos Coverband and DJ Elisium.
On October 13, the Rockjales Festival will be held at the Malecon del Soto and not in the CEIP parking lot Poet Miguel Hernandez.
From the City Council of Rojales we want to apologize for the inconvenience caused.

Participating women are picked up by the marching band and paraded into the park and given seats on stage.
Men that want to participate then cycle an old bike under a row of metal loops which they try to spear with a pencil.
If they succeed the loop is attached to a gibbon with a woman’s name on & that woman then gives the man her sash & a kiss in exchange for a bunch of flowers.
