Airports and your valuables!

How many people do you see who at the last minute take out their wallet, take off their jewellery/watch and put them on the tray in full view of everyone? It only takes a minute or so to prepare beforehand and secrete these things into the case/bags or pockets of jackets so they are not on full view. As with everything, think and make it harder for the theives!

Also some people put their iPhone straight on the tray?? Why don't they hide it in a case/ bag or pocket otherwise it's easy pickings!

Hi Jan, agree with all you say but sometimes ....depending oN airport or security.....they tell you to put phones into the tray so sometimes it's just automatic, I got hauled over the coals at Alicante for having my phone in my bag.

Always put mine away..never straight on the tray. I think I will continue to take a chance.

The other way is to put it underneath something on the tray like a jacket. The xray can still pick it up.

I know when I took a laptop the guy sorting out the trays made me put it on one side to be on show but when he went to the next person I nudged my jacket to go over the top of it. It still shows on the Xray but doesn't really need to be on full view for everyone else IMO.

I often wear a Barbour jacket in the cold months, with oversized outside pockets and internal poacher pockets, my record is 15kg in storage.....eat that Ryanair !

Please don't give Ryanair any ideas, they will start weighing our underwear soon !!
