Flights to Alicante

Gosh, you are all lucky! I fly from Glasgow or Edinburgh and book months in advance yet pay around £150 to £200 return! That is flying with whoever is cheapest (Easyjet, Jet2, Ryanair) and picking the cheapest days and early morning flights! Unfortunately I am still bringing a suitcase every time to ferry over personal belongings as I have only recently bought my house. Roll on the day when I just bring hand luggage!
Prices have definitely increased from last year! :-(

Yes bellajanie I live near east midlands airport and can't seem to get the cheap flights others manage. We are like you still taking cases to get stuff to our new place too.
I just keel looking in hope we will drop on something cheap.

Is there any truth to what I've heard about prices going up the more you search a particular airline's site for cheap seats?

What I mean is, if you go back again and a again to an airline's site then each time the price goes up as your IP address is logged and the operator knows you are interested.

Not sure about 'truth' but I have had my suspicions for a while - So much so that what I do now is search for dates near to where I want and try to not click on the actual date I want but just look at the prices on a week or 3 day view.

It's almost like I feel that I am tricking the website and only click on an actual flight I want, the moment I am ready to book.

I'm sure that they must have the technology now to store our last search details and then they could in theory put the prices up on that date the next time we go back in. Almost like they are saying "It's your fault you didn't book when you last searched!"
I thought it was just me being 'Big Brother' paranoid but I have had it happen and wasn't sure if it was just co-incidence that each day I searched a particular flight it went up in price.
I also now write down the prices of the flights I last looked at, even though I don't click on the particular flight I am interested in. It's like a game to see if they put them up when they don't know I searched for them and usually they don't but that could just be co-incidence too.

Oh I also search a few bogus flights after I finish searching my real flights...now that really could confuse them, if the theory is true.
:geek:
I know.... I really do sound bonkers now!

Before you go back to check prices clear any cookies from your computer and then it will look like a 1st time search. The cookies store the information on your site visits and that gives the airline web site the details of your previous searches. I am told that this works but I can't guarantee it. I use CCleaner.com to clear cookies and other stuff its free.

Yes they do know as I have been looking the last four weeks and then
The other night had an email from jet 2 saying they had noticed
That I had been looking at flights but not booked, and went on to point
Out all the reasons I should book with them.
I am like Jan though I don't put in exact dates or pick them just look at prices
But they definitely go up!

I think I have just proved this theory- The last dates I searched for 11 days ago, although they were not the dates I was actually looking for, have gone up like this:

WAS - £123 total NOW £264 total... and the outward journey one way is £209 on the THURSDAY, with flights either side of £60 & £90 one way. What reason would a Thursday flight (NOT school holidays BTW), one way, be over £200 when the Wednesday and Saturday flights either side are almost a third of the price....unbelievable!!

I'm sure all the airlines must do this but it isn't good practice!

The Thursday EasyJet one back from Alicante to Newcastle leaves Alicante late and arrives early morning on the Friday (01:00) whch suits me fine. I don't know yet if this is more expensive as I haven't used it yet.

Who was your booking with?
