Monarch versus CAA Advice and information

We've now got a claim form from the CAA but although we booked early Dec 2016 I don't have the ATOL certificate (I probably just didn't keep it). So while it sounds promising, the lack of the ATOL certificate might just scupper my claim. We'll see!

Iain - I thought I didn't have the ATOL Certificate either but it is actually attached to the booking confirmation e-mail not a separate one). NB - It only seems to be for UK flights out of UK and not for flights into the UK ??? I have only received CAA e-mail for flights out. I commute weekly from Gatwick to Alicante and this has hit me hard !! I've lost 50+ flights !! Incidentally the Unique ATOL No. they request is actually your Monarch Flight Booking No.
For the two posters above where the Bank refunded your money. Did you have to fill out various Forms to get this back or was just a quick phone call ??? Please advise.
Thanks

I’ve had one PayPal payment of €189.20 refunded.
This was a part payment for a flight booked for August 2018. The balance, €368, was from a credit for a cancelled flight (death in the family) originally scheduled before Monarch’s collapse.
I’ve had to provide PayPal with a chain of communications between myself and Monarch - Orginal booking confirmation, email containing the death certificate, acceptance by Monarch of the cancellation with the credit and finally, the subsequent 08/18 booking. I’m hopefull of the recovery of that amount too.

December return leg with Monarch booked on CC. The day they went under I booked alternative flights with Ryanair and lodged my claim with CC. Refunded money which was actually more than I paid for the alternative Ryanair flight. I book everything travel related regardless of its value via CC for the piece of mind

Just an update. PayPal has credited the full amount for our return flights last month including our Priority boarding and extra leg room fees.
Very pleased with the service and it was quicker than I thought. Was only under 2 weeks while they investigated and came to a resolution.
Well done PayPal!
Here's part of the email just received:
"PayPal has concluded our investigation of your case.
Our investigation is complete and and we have recovered your funds. **** GBP has been credited to you. This is the maximum amount we were able to recover. Please allow five working days for this adjustment to be posted.
We regret that you had this experience but hope that you are satisfied with this claim resolution.
Thank you"

Final update from from me about this:
Despite not being able to produce an ATOL certificate, we have now received a refund from the CAA for the cost of the alternative flights (for Nov 2) which we booked with Easyjet the day after Monarch collapsed. This is the not inconsiderable sum of €280. So we're obviously really pleased and not a little surprised. I have to say the CAA Claims Team have been excellent in their communication with me, especially when you consider the sheer volume of people they have had to deal with.

That's good. We received our flight money back from PayPal too. It seems that, as far as I can tell from researching online and reading on here, everyone who made the effort to claim, whichever way they paid, have been refunded.
Great result!
