Non traveller

Non traveller

Postby Ron Hill » Mon Sep 06, 2021 7:55 pm

I'm taking a friend to Alicante airport on Wed and I will not be travelling so can't enter the terminal I'm aware of the 10 min rule at drop off but if I park in the multi storey car park can I get from there to say Costa Coffee without entering the terminal. Failing that what are the charges at drop off after 10 mins

You can’t enter the terminal building But you can still drop off at departures (Costa Coffee), as you say you get 10 minutes free here.
If you park in the multi story, you are supposed to wait by the pay machines at level 4. Across the bridge they have security stopping you from going any further. Parking charges at the airport wouldn’t be more than the cost of a pint of beer anyway.

We dropped of one set of family yesterday and waited an hour to collect my wife's brother. parked in level 4 crossed the bridge and went to Costa for a coffee. We did ask a security guard and he said no problem. We actually met the brother in law as we were walking back to the "bridge" Parking for almost an hour and a half was under 2 euro.

Thanks for the info. I understood there was a hefty fine if you parked at the drop off for more than the 10 mins allowed

Use the multi storey, walk across the bridge and up the escalator.
You can't go into departures but you can go outside to Costa.
Alternatively, use the lift at the end of the bridge to ho down to arrivals (down escalator turned off) and you can use the cafe in the arrivals area.

No you just put your ticket in the machine and pay the rate. The charges per minute are more expensive per minute though than parking upstairs.

I’ve found this on the airport website detailing the charges. Not sure it’s totally up to date as it still mentions about having 15 minutes free and as that changed to 10 minutes more than 2 years ago, the fees have probably increased by now.

How do you get into level 4. I've never managed it in 4 years!

I was advised by my neighbor to go to level 5 then back down to level 4. I tried this but no joy, i had to come right back down to the bottom, thinking oh oh I'm in trouble. but managed to go up again using the ramps on the left of the entrance. ( I used the ones on the right first time) Lo behold you can access all floors from these ramps.
