SPANISH & OTHER EU AIRPORTS INCREASE SECURITY CHECKS.
Passengers will find new security measures for hand luggage at Spanish airports. Phones, computers, cameras and including toys will pass a special inspection in controls. Checks are made at separate tables, and all major electrical devices such as irons, hair dryers are examined. The new European regulations coming into force are to enhance safety to new ways of conceal explosives. So that passengers do not have to wait that long, at Spanish "Aena" airports more staff will reinforce these points. The set of measures implemented will be an annual cost of 17 million euros.
Irons and hairdryers, cameras and battery toys will be subject to a specific inspection in hand luggage to air passengers, the entry into force of the new European legislation, which aims to strengthen security measures.
Air passengers will have to undergo a further inspection in their hand luggage, in adopting the European standard 2015/187, which requires Aena to impose controls explosives trace across the network from 1st March 2015.
The European regulation ensures that recent data has shown that international terrorists are developing new ways of hiding explosive devices in hand luggage and therefore the European Commission has decided to strengthen controls.
The aim is to improve threats hidden in hand luggage in devices. The regulation states that it should inspect the luggage containing laptops and other large electrical items.
These controls are not expected to increase the time spent. Thus, among the new devices to be included in the inspection and must be analyzed separately in the control are cameras, camcorders, computers, phones, CD, pocket calculators, and electrical devices such as hand irons, straightening irons, hair dryers, battery toys or portable sewing machines, among others.
Aena insists that the procedure being performed with "guarantees and comfort" for the passenger and checkpoints with additional staff, will be strengthened so that the security services will achieved the new legislation.
The expected wait time on these controls will not increase for passengers. To preserve the privacy of the passenger there will be tables with high sides to prevent their belongings in view of other passengers.
The director of the Aena network, Fernando Echegaray said,"In implementing the procedure the maximum information on signs to inform the passenger that they may be selected for inspection of hand luggage".
The standard liquid restrictions remains in force; Currently still in force regulations on carrying liquids in hand luggage at airports in the European Union. This prohibits transporting aerosols or containers with liquids, creams, gels or similar substances exceeding 100 milliliters. The containers with liquids or similar must be in a clear plastic bag that can be opened and closed and the capacity not exceeding one liter.

Los pasajeros de los aeropuertos se han encontrado nuevas medidas de seguridad para su equipaje de mano. Móviles, ordenadores, cámaras e inlcuso juguetes pasarán una inspección especial en los controles. Los controles se harán en mesas separadas, y se examinarán todos los dispositivos eléctricos grandes, como planchas de pelo o secadores. La nueva normativa europea que entra en vigor busca así reforzar la seguridad ante las nuevas formas de ocultar explosivos. Para que el pasajero no tenga que esperar tanto, desde Aena aseguran que reforzarán con más personal estos puntos. El conjunto de medidas aplicadas supondrá un coste anual de 17 millones de euros.
Planchas y secadores de pelo, cámaras fotográficas y hasta juguetes a pilas serán objeto de una inspección específica en los equipajes de mano de los pasajeros aéreos, por la entrada en vigor de la nueva normativa europea, que propone reforzar las medidas de seguridad.
Los pasajeros aéreos se tendrán que someter a una nueva inspección en su equipaje de mano, en adopción de la norma europea 2015/187, que obliga a Aena a imponer controles de trazas de explosivos en toda su red a partir del 1 de marzo, lo que le supondrá unos costes extras de 17 millones de euros.
El reglamento europeo asegura que datos recientes han demostrado que terroristas internacionales están desarrollando nuevos modos de ocultación de artefactos explosivos en los equipajes de mano y por ello la Comisión Europea (ha decidido reforzar los controles.
El objetivo es mejorar la mitigación de la amenaza de artefactos improvisados ocultos en el equipaje de mano. El reglamento señala que se debe inspeccionar el equipaje de mano que contenga ordenadores portátiles y otros artículos eléctricos de gran tamaño en determinadas condicionales.
Se prevé que no aumente el tiempo de espera en controles
Así, entre los nuevos aparatos que se incluirán en la inspección y que deben de ser analizados por separado en el control se encuentran cámaras fotográficas, cámaras de video, ordenadores, móviles, walkman, CD, calculadoras de bolsillo, así como dispositivos eléctricos de gran tamaño tales como planchas de mano, planchas de pelo, secadores, juguetes a pilas o maquinas de coser portátiles, entre otros.
Desde Aena se insiste en que el procedimiento se realizará con "garantías y comodidad" para el pasajero y para ello se reforzarán los puestos de control con personal adicional, que no ha sido cuantificado, para que los servicios de seguridad logren dar respuesta a las nuevas necesidades.
Con ello se prevé que el tiempo de espera en esos controles no aumente sino que la calidad al pasajero sea la máxima posible. Para preservar la privacidad del pasajero se dispondrán de mesas con laterales elevados que eviten que sus pertenencias queden a la vista del resto de los pasajeros.
"En la ejecución del procedimiento se aportará la máxima información que permita la norma a través de unos carteles informativos que informarán de que el pasajero podrá ser seleccionado para la inspección de su equipaje de mano", explicó el director de la red de Aena, Fernando Echegaray.
La norma de líquidos, sigue vigente
De momento sigue vigente la normativa sobre transporte de líquidos en el equipaje de mano en los aeropuertos de la Unión Europea. Esta prohíbe transportar aerosoles o envases con líquidos, cremas, geles o sustancias similares que superen los 100 mililitros de capacidad. Los envases con líquidos o similares deberán ir en una bolsa de plástico transparente que se pueda abrir y cerrar y de capacidad no superior a un litro.

Posted yesterday on a local forum: does anyone here have any personal experience yet?

"New anti-terrorist rules were introduced today at Alicante Airport and they are causing 45min delays at security check-in. It appears all electrical goods have to be placed in the trays for the scanner and cannot be left in your bag when going through the scanner. So out with the hairdryer, shaver, camera, electric toothbrush etc. this will be in addition to your shoes, your belt, your handbag, not to mention the machine for checking the baby's bottles. For a finish the whole bloody bag will be unpacked into the tray

It is very difficult to keep your eyes peeled for your tray so that it isn't nabbed by someone else. It is advisable to give yourself more time for check-in."

In addition to my post immediately above, the initial post says ..

So not everyone will be subjected to this, only chosen ones, seemingly. The flights would never leave, would they? My wife packs very meticulously, if it all needed to come out it'd never ever go back in again.
