Nice quality plastic wine glasses are coming over next visit, we have been unable to get them in Spain apart from scratched ones from the market. We have taken over table lamps and bulbs and all manner of tools in the past !

Giant padlock and length of thick chain! I was stopped with these - probably thought that I was some sort of vandal!! Luckily I had new car papers to prove that I really wanted it to secure my gate!!
Boxes of packets of instant porridge - because I was on a diet and wanted to make sure that I kept the portion sizes down!

We brought over quite a few tools in our hold luggage in the early days and door locks from Screwfix (all easy to buy in Spain these days).
One mistake we made though, more recently, was when we needed Brass screws, for some reason Spain never had the screws we needed in Brass - the ones we bought in Spain were going rusty. Anyway, we bought them in bulk and put a big envelope of them in the cabin case. Needless to say the Xray looked very suspicious and they were all confiscated at Gatwick - It didn't dawn on us at the time that they would be a problem!

Well well I have been really entertained by all your posts. Thank you
This will make us feel better about packing a few bits and pieces to bring over.

I have taken 2 empty in flight bags in a large suit case back to the UK as I wanted to leave all my clothes & things out here in out apartment in Spain as we were moving out here. Imagine the baggage handler as he grabbed hold of the suitcase from the trolley to throw it onto the elevator expecting it to be heavy, he would have gone up the elevator with it!

Yes can just imagine and we did this with one of ours this last time.
When we go again hoping to take electric kettle and toaster.
We found these to be very expensive over there. I have a spare microwave too could do with taking
That also !

A Tyrolean plaster thingy mibob..... you put extra thick plaster or pebbles in it and turn the handle and it fires the plaster/pebbles out to give a pebbledashed effect...we used it on the solarium walls when we'd repaired and painted them and this was to blend the repair in with the other rough texture...
Oh and was once stopped as I had a bottle of Stardrops in my case.....the guy at the airport said ." Good lord do they still make this"? lol..
