by blackvelvet » Wed Oct 30, 2013 4:00 pm
We will be flying very shortly over for two weeks.
I have some items I would like to bring just to help
With our first day or so in property we have bought.
Don't laugh but OH wants to take small hacksaw !
A little screwdriver set and a small drill !
I am already laughing myself it sound rediculous!
What are your views and advise please.
I also have just a small number of items like coasters.

coasters (cork) are a good idea, I can only find useless glass ones in spain, as for small tools like screwdriver and hacksaw, forget them you can buy very cheap at local Chinese stores, not great quality but will get the job done at very little cost

Hi,that reminds of the game whats the oddest thing in a ladies handbag from A to Z!!!
I thinkyou should bring whatever you want but you will find you can buy anything here between the markets ,shops ,superstores and ferreria, but sometimes you see things back home that you just want to bring, we only have hand luggage and I dont let my husband see in either of the cases!!!! lol

We took over a garden table and chairs, bedside cabinets and have brought back a bathroom worth of tiles in our time.

That must have been over 6 or 7 years ago when British Airways (and possibly other airlines) were being very generous with their free extra luggage. We brought a nest of side tables, still packed in their box and just put them straight into the luggage check-in where pushchairs and golf clubs etc. go, all free of charge. Another time we brought a TV table from Argos.
This was before all the shops like IKEA and other reasonably priced places opened up in the area. Even some of the big Chinese Bazaars also have similar items these days - Wouldn't feel the need to do it now.
Jan.

Don't blame you..Yum! I always bring a couple of large slabs of the best extra mature cheddar in my hand luggage case each time we come - Much cheaper in the UK...and if we get a delay, which is too late to eat out, we can have cheese & crackers at least!

Yes I too have brought a lot of food stuff,10yrs ago not the variety of stuff you can get now, our cases regularly had cheese, custard powder, gravy granules, even bacon and sausages, it just wasn't so easy to get as it is now, we have also bought new vacuum cleaner still in the box, but squeezed in the suitcase. Going back to u.k. for visits, always took oranges(because they don't have them lol,) also lemons, they don't have them either, lol, also boxes of frozen large prawns, just because they are so much cheaper here, the list goes on, lol:lol:
