Highly recommended

One year I had 40 +, some alive some dead! Bought the Aki plug in, the expensive one, only had one last year. You get what you pay for, as the saying goes. From m/kets a €5, mine costs €20. Unplug Oct. to Apr. /May. Also if you read up on them they can flatten themselves and crawl under doors, would have to be quite a gap, but can't squeeze through plug holes overflows as they can't make their shells narrow as opposed to flat! Good luck!

Unfortunately, they DO come up plugholes...
We always leave our plugs in when we go away for any time & then run lots of water down them when we return to refill the water trap (U bend).
But one time we returned and removed the plug from kitchen sink, one shot out at us from the plughole.
He didn't last long as we always have a cockroach spray on hand.

Another time we had a visitor staying, and when she opened her suitcase, one came out of it...
Can only assume it must have got in at the airport.

Yes I was just going to say the same thing! - Our friends a few years back had an infestation after they had an extension on the house and a Cockroach nest must have been disturbed as they had them coming in plugholes and everywhere. The overflows on sinks are quite big and so are the plugholes - Baby cockroaches are quite small too and, if there is an infestation, all sizes of cockroaches can come in anywhere.

Its a good idea to put a cork in the sink and bidet overflow hole (wine corks fit well!) We leave ours in all the time and when going away our water is turned off, so we put plugs in the plug hole too. I am a bit paranoid though!

We also cover the toilet pans with cling film if our place is empty any time during the summer . The overflow on one of our sinks is oblong so I cover it with Duck tape and I cover the shower waste with an old ashtray !

Good idea!
I do the tape over the kitchen overflow too as it's like 4 oblongs.

I use the spray from the Chinese shops and spray all the windows doors , plug holes before departing to the UK .
This year during our stay back in Spain we have found two . Why do they suddenly appear just when I want to use the toilet ???
You can guarantee that I just don't make it , they scare me , and accidents so happen :

that's funny , the council have just been down our street in Formentura ,lifting the manhole covers and spraying for cockroaches',then they tape over the hinge on the grid and spray a coloured dot on ,but they still crawl out from round the edge ,then die, they come about 4 times a year,or if some one rings up and complains

Boric acid. That's what pest companies use
