Not possible to tell from that photo as can not see the head but if a Pointed head its Venomous, if Rounded head the fangs are in the back of the throat so you would have to stick your fingers in it's mouth to be bitten

If you Google" Snakes in Spain Costa Blanca" it shows pictures of Snakes found in the Area and whether they are Venomous. As said, not clear from that picture but whoever saw it might recognise one of them.

Malpolon monspessulanus would be my educated guess.Mildly venomous so worth avoiding.

Most commonly seen snakes around here are the yellow horseshoe whipsnake - non-poisonous member of adder family & about 18" to 30" long.
Small grass snakes - usually only a foot long or so.
I have once seen a live Montpellier (Malpolon monspessulanus) snake near Lo Crispin and it was 8 feet long, looked black and relatively thin body. As jpeg says, fangs in back of throat, only mildly poisonous & only people bitten by them have put their fingers down their throat!
But all snakes here are far more afraid of you than you may be of them, and will disappear very quickly as soon as they become aware of you.
