Mosquito's

Postby Sky is Blue » Mon Oct 14, 2019 1:11 pm

Hello all,

We are coming over next Sunday for a couple of months, staying in Dona Pepa. Does anyone know if there are any problems with mosquito's ?

Many thanks for any advice offered

Dave

I bought some spay from Mercadona which I apply to exposed skin twice a day... normally I get eaten alive, but since this zero bites!

We use the insect repellant called Fuerte from Mercadona, find it on the same aisle as the fly sprays €2.95 a bottle, works well for us

I have used the mercadona one which is quite good but since we have still water near us from the floods that has produced millions each evening I have bought Halley from the chemist. Halley is much more expensive and has a nicer smell and I have only had one bite. We have also been very sensible closing up at dusk and opening up when the sun is fully up in the mornings. We have not eaten outside either so I am not sure if it is a combination of things we have done or the sprays.

Have tried many, the only one that seems to be great for me is one by Nenuco, Siempre Fresca, a baby lotion, the only place I can find that particular lotion is at Consum, at €3.20. I even dilute it, I pour some into a spare spray bottle, top it up with water, ratio approx 60 / 40. Since using this, the only times I get bit is on areas I don’t put out it on. But we are all different and get different results. All I can suggest is give it a try.

To 1foot foreword, is it possible to let us know the name and maybe a picture of the product you recommend?
As I tried 28 different products with different prices from different country and nothing helps…
Much appreciated

Halley is the stuff, you get it from chemists. Other things weve foud that work well - you can get a lemon scented baby oil from consom, put that in a spray bottle and spray it about, they hate it, we spray the bedroom and bedding, keeps you unbitten overnight even with the window open. You can also get Vitamin B1 ptahcxes off the internet (ebay) , they make you taste disgusting to mozzies and last 36 hours, 4 patches in a packet, £5 a packet.
