Overgrown bushes

We have neighbours like that and I've offered to do it, or help them - just idle bu**ers. Banana tree leaves strewn everywhere.

They want a garden but they don´t want to do gardening, that´s not fair.
So, enough is enough. I´ve asked them to sort it on a regular basis, if they don´t I´ll hack all that´s overhanging my garden and chuck it into their gardens and THEY can dispose of it.

I read somewhere but can't remember where that you must return whatever you cut off to the owner as it is their property or they can sue you.
Sounds ridiculous but that was a legal opinion. As I can't remember where I read it I don't know if it refered to Spain, Ireland, UK or Timbuktu

Yes it is a law or a rule in the UK. I've heard this for years too. Our next door neighbour in the Uk has a gardener and when he cuts our trees growing over his side he puts the cuttings over our side. We have never been upset by this as he has enough to do and we are happy that he cuts back the overhang on our neighbours side for us.

I find that a really good weedkiller normally sorts the problem, and you can also use it on her plants

Not yet!... But you know full well what you do. You've admitted that you like to wind people up. I was just pre-empting any trouble.

what i am trying to say in a none nasty way is why make such a big deal about a bush growing over your garden, trim it and put the rubbish in the bin simples! it surprises me as to why people can't just get on with tasks as simple as trimming a bush? and in the mean time causing chaos with a neighbour!
