Best place to stay for few days to view Quesada properties?

Best place to stay for few days to view Quesada properties?

Postby ann » Thu Oct 02, 2014 8:23 pm

Hi everyone, we are hoping to move to Quesada within the next 2 years and my husband would like to come out within the next few weeks for 3 days to have a look around and few some properties. Can anyone advise on the best place to stay for these days so he can get around easily. He's not planning on renting a car, just using buses and by foot. We will email estate agencies with details of the properties we want to see. Also I believe we need to have a Spanish bank account. Can he do that when he is in Quesada or do we both need to be there. All information and any additional information very gratefully received. Many thanks

If you do not intend to buy a property for at least 2 years why is your husband going to view properties now? Wouldn't it be better to sus out all the different areas first, get a vibe for them, you would have to do that over a bit of time, maybe try and rent for a wee bit first so you arent tied to one place.
Also the buses aren't really that good so I think he would need a car.
Alternatively you could check out the companies that do the viewing tours, you would find these on line, come out with a couple of them, only negative about that is that you are kinda tied to them for the duration of the time.
Good luck with whatever you decide, it is a really lovely place to have a home

Thanks Mel. What you said does make sense. I just want to be doing something now. That's me though, so impatient. We have been on internet every night for ages looking at all the different areas in Spain but keep coming back to Quesada. Something very appealing about it x

Hi ann,

You could book rental properties in different areas for short breaks. There are plenty of rental properties, particularly holiday rentals and you could then see what Quesada feels like to you at different times of the year. Many people are choosing to do this first, rather than buying and then possibly wishing they had bought somewhere else.

It is a nice area but there are lots of properties for sale so you wouldn't miss out on getting a decent property, when you are ready to buy, and in the process you could be better informed on where you like or don't like.

I agree with Mel, particularly if you are thinking of living in Quesada in the future.

Thanks Jan. Can you tell me if we were taking a say,6 month rental, what costs apart from rent, electricity and water rates would we have. Do rental properties have internet, sky etc and are these included in monthly rent. The reason for asking is that if we were renting we would want it to be as like a permanent home as possible so it would give us a 'true feeling' of living in Spain.

I don't know about 6 months rental but shorter holiday rentals would generally include everything in the price and you would no doubt be able to 'shop around' to get ones that include Wifi.

With 6 months you would possibly have to pay the utility bills while you are there but there's no telling what some rentals may include in the price.

There may be some on here that will give you an idea:
Properties to rent: apartments, houses and villas in Quesada

Also, you could always email some agents or look on their website to see what rental properties they have and what they include, to give you an idea:
Estate agents in Quesada and the surrounding areas

Hope this helps.

Sorry to put a downer on your plans but their is no use what so ever coming to Quesada without a car either to visit or live so you may want to rethink your plans people will tell you different but unless you intend to retire and just stay at home or pay to be driven about . We have had a property for 15 years and not seen a bus yet. Taxi services have started now. The beach is 20 min drive sorry to be a bit negative . But we really think you should have some facts good luck.

Hi Sue & John,

I would agree that it is certainly much more convenient to have a car in Quesada and most people who live there would agree with you. However, we have met quite a few residents and holiday-home owners, like us, who use the public transport to travel around the area. We meet them because we stay in our holiday home for a month at a time and, except for the Summer when we hire a car for a while to go to the beaches, we use the buses to get around.

It isn't that there are no buses, there are, it's just that it takes a while to get to know the routes and most of them pick up from the arches. There are other bus stops around the upper parts of Quesada but, fair to say, you have to know the times they are due, as they are few and far between in those areas. In the UK even in the areas where the bus services are not good, it's quite easy to find the timetables and work out where they come and go from (no language problems for asking too!) but the Spanish buses do need some working out.

It isn't easy getting around Quesada internally by bus, which is true, but other areas, from and to Quesada, can be done - It just takes some 'getting to know' the bus system and lots of the long term residents we've met know how to use the buses.

There is a hospital bus too, which we have been on because it also drops off in the Carrefour, Habanaras area sometimes, depending on the time, on the way to the hospital and there are always residents on that who use it regularly.

We go to Rojales on the free bus each week - We also go to Torrevieja quite often on the bus.

We cycle into Los Montesinos (cycle route only, not main roads) using the under-pass to cross the main dual carriageway road. Also we cycle to Benimar, which is next door to Benijofar. We also cycle to Torrevieja sometimes, again using the cycle lanes only. Not everyone would want to cycle but it may be an option for some who have time .

We have been compiling some information in the section below, which may be helpful - All timetables should be checked with the town halls, as Summer/Winter times the buses may change. We do try to update them as much as possible but always say it's safer to check before travelling (nothing worse than waiting for a bus that doesn't come because the times have changed!) - However, it can give an idea of what can be available for public transport around our area of Spain:

Hi Ann

We used Quesada as a base for getting to know the Costa Blanca and Murcia area but liked it so much we finally bought a villa in Quesada itself. Our villa is available for holiday rentals so if you would like to book a trip you will find rental rates and a full calendar on our personal website:

Please make sure you see the Guest Reviews page - This is really all the advertising we need.

We look forward to hearing from you.
