Extending exterior wall permission

Hi just bought a property and went to the town hall enquiring about extending the exterior wall height (maximum of 2m). I was sent off with a form which seems to state it costs €70 per square metre *shock horror!* since the wall is 24m long this is a heck of a lot of money! Does this sound correct? Is there any way around these extortionate rates? (Legally of course)

We had our wall built up to 2m as well, a couple of years ago. That was probably a similar length to yours. The builders got the licence and, although I can't remember how much it was, it was nothing too costly and nowhere near that. I'd speak to whoever's doing it for you first.

Thanks for your reply. I was thinking there is something not right considering it will be 10 times the price of the materials! My husband was planning on doing the work himself but we will definitely need to talk to someone in the know as it would be ridiculous to pay such an amount for a bit of a wall

Hi cost is correct however total cost is divided by about 90 and this is what you pay did mine and total square mt was 16 and cost about 60 euros

Have a word with Don Aluminio Builders (advert on left of page) they can sort all permissions for you and are excellent and fully legal.

That's more like it! Did you get the permission yourself in the townhall? It doesn't say anything on the form abbot dividing by 90 (although of course I hope you're right!!)
