Furniture Covers

Furniture Covers

Postby Iancorker » Tue Mar 21, 2023 1:15 pm

The covers for our furniture are worn out. Any advice on which ones will last a reasonable time in the sun, rain and wind and where to buy them?

I bought just loose covers from Amazon.es and am really pleased with them. They fade in the sun though, but our terrace doesn't get much! Also they store away within the little table. Otherwise, you could go made to measure, but is expensive.

I gave up with cheap plastic covers that didn’t last a year. I found a place in the UK that do high quality made to measure covers. They last a very long time. Had some of ours 10 years and replaced some last year. Not cheap but a good investment if you have expensive garden furniture to protect. I brought them over in hand luggage but you may be able to get them delivered. Check out their website and give them a call they are very helpful. Good luck.

Thanks. If they last ten years then they are good value.

Covers never last, it’s the sun that fades even a good quality cover within a couple of weeks. Even the ones labelled as UV resistant. Even if they don’t fade the red rain comes along and permeates the fabric, so they end up looking awful.
Fortunately living here permanently there’s only a few items I have covers for, but I’d steer clear of the black ones with the silver lining - they are fairly expensive at 20€ upwards, but once the sun damages them, the wind will shred them and then they disintegrate. Again they’re labelled as UV resistant.

Mind you - talking about things disintegrating what is it with the sun and bungee cords! I use them to secure the covers and they last a couple of months if I’m lucky.
