LAWYER

Postby John B » Sat Feb 02, 2019 9:16 pm

Dear Forum
Very soon I am going to sign for my new property, can anyone advise a Lawyer that I can use to assist us with the process. Will I need a lawyer to come to the Notary with us. We are buying in Atalaya Rojales, which Notary will we use ? When we bought a property in Tenerife the Estate Agent came with us to the Notary, I do not want to use our agent.

Thanks Forum

I would recommend SGM Abogados in Benijofar http://sgmlegalspain.com . You'll find they are recommended by many people on the forum. The lawyer Sylvia Galve came with me to the notary which was in Rojales.

Sheila Parra Garcia, solicitor, our solicitor. Absolutely nothing gets past her, speaks perfect English and she does the whole notary thing, makes the process so easy. We have recommended her to all our friends and not one had anything but praise for her services. PM me for more details if you want...…...

If u are about to sign, and u mean complete the sale, if yes then you probably paid a holding deposit? In which case your unwanted agent is probably already involved, taking this deposit from you and maybe using their in-house solicitor to take care of it. In which case u may be paying for their services already.

Anyway, regardless of that, simplest suggestion is the gov.UK website, they have a list of English speaking lawyers for most areas. You can select a few and email them for a price so you know what to expect. I used AG lawyers, in torrevieja, no undue problems, but I’m sure there are others.

SGM in Benijofar. I wouldn't ever use anybody else. Good luck in your purchase.

Again great advice , thanks Daz and DTR all of you have been so helpful, I don't think our agent has taken a payment but I will check. They have offered to take us to the Notary and furniture shopping at a cost of course 495 euros. We have already arranged to have the utilities set up water and electric 600 euros but that was through the builders as I am still in Britain. I now wish I had left it for the lawyer to set up ! But lesson learned I suppose.
