Purchasing a property

Postby neilcurtis » Sun Dec 04, 2011 8:34 pm

Hi, we are looking tp purchase a property in Costa Blanca and are wondering if Quesada is an ideal choice. We currently have a short list of Villa Martin, Quesada, La Marina. The property will be used mainly as a quiet holiday home. We are looking for a quietish area but with all ammenities at hand. We appreciate all your comments. Regards Neil & Lisa

Hi Neil,
Yes, Quesada would be an Ideal choice. You are 10 minutes from the many wonderful beaches, a 10 minute (depending where in Quesdada but 10 minutes maximum) walk to the shops and bars, lot's of places available and a good mixture of Nationalaties living here. A bit of advice though, try and rent first if you can.

Hello Neil & Lisa,

Welcome to TalkQuesada.

I agree with Glyn. Quesada is in an excellent location for everything people need and it's an 'all year round' region, which is an added advantage. I don't know much about the La Marina or Villa Martin areas but Quesada is generally quiet and definitely has all amenities. We have a holiday-home here and love it.

Wherever you choose to buy or rent in Quesada you will never be too far away from some facilities like shops or bars/restaurants within walking distance. Quesada these days covers quite a large area and there are some hilly places, up nearer the golf course, which would make walking, for some, a bit of a struggle. The Dona Pepa area is mostly flat and easy walking. However if you take time to look around the area, and ask on the forum, you can find out which part suits you.

I also agree with Glyn that renting, even if you only rent for a few weeks holiday, is a good idea. You can then look at places at your leisure and see which part of Quesada suits you. There are lots of rental properties. You can just drive around and look for the signs on the properties - which is also a good thing to do when wanting to buy as well. Estate Agents will only show you what is on their books at the time and in the present financial climate there are lots of properties with for sale 'Se Vende' signs on. You will have a good choice.

Hope this helps. If you need to know any more just ask.

Jan

Hi Neil and Lisa, I would echo the other comments that Quesada is ideal for you are looking for. We looked in many areas before deciding on Quesada, including La Marina and Villamartin.
My observations is that La marina is too big and rambling, also some "rough" Brit areas.
Villamartin is manic in the summer due to golf nuts and have groups of blokes over for golf and boozy weekends, so lots of trouble in Plaza at night.
Quesada has quiet and lively elements if you want them.
Good luck

Hi Neil it's Glyn again. Thinking about it again and talking to the gaffer we really think that renting first is best. You can get the feel for wherever you want to go before you buy. "Try before you buy" makes sense because there are quite a few bargins to grab right now. Good luck in what you decide and remember you can always get help on this forum.
:D :) ;) :P

Yes I agree with most of the other comments. I used to work in the UK doing Spanish Property Exhibitions arranging viewing trips. I was familiar with most of the areas you are mentioning. My husband and I decided to buy a property and the area we went for was Quesada. To be honest most of the people who went on viewing trips did love Quesada. Although Villamartin was nice way back then in 2002 although it is now very very jaded and millions of properties there row up on row. When my son and daughter were staying at ours in the Summer when we were here in the UK my daughter said that somebody had told them around the pool to go to somewhere called Villamartin I said what I thought about it but they went and agreed that I was right and it was looking very tired. I would recommend you rent for a period if you have the time to do that, but the fortunate thing is now there are lots of resale bargains to be had. So that would be my advice to you look around and dont sign until you are sure that is where you want to be. La Marina is a huge concrete jungle of older and new houses but might suit you.

On Quesdada there are lots of nice new bars and restaurants also lots of establised ones. We are now on our second home we sold our first one near the Golf Course and bought on Dona Pepa II a really nice area with lots of very expensive villas and large tree lined avenues. I wanted to buy on Dona Pepa way back in 2001 but we couldnt afford it then but 5 years ago sold our first house and bought there. We are very happy as all restaurants, bars and supermarkets are easily assessible by foot or car we go to the glorious beaches of Guardamar a 10 min drive away.

Anyway I could go on and on but I wont but dont let anybody force you into something you dont want gather as much information even chatting to people in that area before you sign on that dotted line.

Good Luck to you in your new venture and lovely sunny times in glorious Spain.

Whilst I do agree in what your saying about renting first, I had never been to the Costa Blanca and loved it first visit where we bought a duplex in Entre Naranjos but found it a little quiet as at the time they had no shops or anything there, we have friends in main part of Quesada and we found lo marabu where we can have quiet time or a little buzz if needed and just love it here you are 10 mins from anything you would like to do.

we have been in Quesada for 10 years and love it, we rented in playa flamenca at first but thank goodness found Quesada when we came to buying. there is everything you need here and properties of all sizes to suit all needs, quiet areas, busy areas, plenty of restuarants, bars, schools, new medical centre, golf , bowls etc. etc. In our opinion it is definately the best place on the Costa Blanca
loads of bargains around just now and I would agree with a previous post that just driving around the area is the best option. avoid anywhere too near the coast as they tend to be very busy and noisy at holiday times and we have found that in general, eating out/ drinking is a lot more expensive than Quesada.

Hi all, many thanks for all your comments, we appreciate all of your thoughts and will definitely take on your advice. We also agree regarding Villamartin and that it looks dated and very tired (google street view is great!). La Marina is now off the list, which leaves Quesada as our final choice.
We are planning to visit in early January and if anyone fancies a coffee (on us!) and a chat we would be very grateful.

Hi Neil/Lisa,
I'm going back to the UK tomorrow to spend Christmas with the family. When I come back I would love to have a coffee with you especially if you're paying!
