sensor lights on wall

sensor lights on wall

Postby LJK » Tue Jun 21, 2022 10:55 pm

Can you tell me please am I within my rights to ask my neighbour to lower his sensor light on the wall of his house as when I go to walk in my garden his light lights up all my garden also we like to swim at night but now when we go near pool all floodlit. (not a pretty sight) Why it is higher than our joint wall i thought common sense would tell you it is straight into next door as light and sensor is above height of wall. I did try to speak to him but all he did was stop his dogs barking and went indoors. Any helpful ideas please.

He’s probably done it to stop you swimming of a nighttime! At least you can know see the amount of flying creatures that are attracted to the water during the night. Maybe so he can check that it’s you making a noise rather than intruders on his property as even the noise from basic swimming movements is amplified when there’s no other sounds around.
Perhaps if you thank him for illuminating your property, but suggest he re angles the light to give him more coverage on his own property.

Just because you might make a lot of noise doesn't mean we all do. The wall that the light is on facies our property so an intruder would have to get through three properties first. Also they do have two large dogs.

Hello sorry to hear about your problem, unfortunately unhelpful neighbours are all too prevalent now. Ideally the flood lights we have are high up but they go no further than our boundary, ie only comes on when someone is actually inside our property.
I would suggest you try again to discuss the problem with him, failing that ask your local police for advice.
Take a photo of his light and another when one of you walk to your pool. They might be able to help.
I do hope he is more reasonable, he only has to move the lamp holder down slightly, afterall it should really only light up his property.
Good luck
