Solicitor's fees for Buying and selling properties

Solicitor's fees for Buying and selling properties

Postby Eltel01 » Fri Aug 17, 2018 11:08 am

Dear *All,

Please accept my apologies in advance, as, even tho' I cannot find it myself, I would guess this has been 'forum'd' previously..

I just wondered if any house owners / sellers here may shed any light on what may be expected in terms of Solicitor's fees for 1) Buying a home and 2) selling a home - I am not wishing you to publish actual money amounts, But just in 'Percentages' of the house values, por favor.

Muchas Gracias y saludos

If you find a solicitor or have one already then just email them from their website to ask their fees .That way you will get a range of prices. There are many solicitors/ Abagado's recommended on here. We even have one advertising if you scroll down this page - Blau - They are very modern and efficient plus speak English and Spanish.

There are others recommended on this topic link too:

When I bought my villa, the overall cost was about 13% of the price of the villa. Of that 13 ,10% was taken by the govt.
Unless things have changed drastically, around 3% of the buying price for solicitors fees

yes , something similar for me. The 10% is tax, the remainder ( around 3%) covers not just the solicitors fees but also the Notary's fee etc . All the good solicitors will give you an itemized breakdown of the likely costs, both for buying and for selling.

When we bought in 2016, our solicitor charged just under Eu 2,000 on a property purchase price of Eu 230k. In addition to the conveyancing services we would expect in the UK, e.g. searches, etc. their fee included transferring the utilities into our name and setting up the relevant direct debits. Our vendors' solicitor charged them Eu 800 for the sale, as that side of the transaction involves much less work.

Many thanks Paulr,

One small question.. on your purchase, didn't your solicitors include a 10% fee for tax ?

Best regards

Depends if you use a qualified lawyer or a conveyancer. A lawyer is around 1300€
