Hi myself and a friend are traveling to Quesada the second week in October for a weeks golf...neither of us have played golf in a different country before and are looking for some advise on the best courses to play and if we should be looking to book tee times before we arrive.. I play to a high standard my friend is an improving golfer....any advise would be appreciated...

You will find it very hard to get decent tee times at that time of the year and if you do they will very expensive compared to UK
My advice is to contact Campbell Lamont Golf [email protected] tell him your dates and the area you wish to play eg Quesada

Courses are good in area, including La Finca one of the very best,Vistabella. Try both websites for prices, Vistabella can be very good for offers. Both will offer a challenge for golfers of all ability.

Worth having a look at different golf societies in the area, most of them will allow guests to come and play with them, you will get better prices doing this and they will all play various courses in the area. The courses should all be in good condition at that time of the year but prices are the highest also.

Agree Vistabella can be good on offers. Golf in Spain is generally very expensive. As people spoiled by the norm of easy access to very cheap golf in Scotland ( FIFE, where you can't travel for a mile without tripping over a golf course...)we found Vistabella the best. La Finca is quite a dramatic course ( and we stayed in LA Finca hotel and played the course a number of times)/) but not in our view worth what they try to charge for a one off round. Vistabella is the best place if you are going one-off.They do good twilight deals. If you are here looking for golf more regularly the local golfing societies are worth exploring.

Incidentally also be aware that if you go to La Finca they will automatically look to put you and your friend into a foursome. That might be fine by you. But if your friend is, as you say, an ' improving' golfer they might not enjoy the golf if you are shoved into a foursome with strangers who might not be tolerant of ' improving' golfers. Frankly I think this enforced golfing jollity ( oh, real golfers will play with anyone)is pants. If you just like playing just the two of you, Vistabella is your place, where they are friendly and welcoming. La Marquesa is OK, but Vistabella better.

I have a place in Benimar and very much enjoy the golf in surrounding areas. I’ve booked my tee times back in May so the earlier mentioning post you may struggle for decent tee times is spot on. I booked via galaxy golf on this occasion and 2 rounds with buggies for 4 golfers cost just over £500. Marquesa is bar far the nearest course but for me is possibly the least interesting plus there is building work at present so I would avoid personally. Las Colinas about 20 mins from quesada has been voted best course in Spain several years in a row and the price of €99 pp reflects this but it is a very nice course. Las Ramblas again about 20 mins away I’d probably the toughest course I have played anywhere in Europe but it also one of the most interesting with deep ravines and well thought out layout. 35 mins south and one of my favourites is Lo Romero, this course has a signature hole with an island green. La finca is a nice course and a fairly decent test. Villamartin 20 mins - I don’t remember too much about this course as haven’t played it for several years but I remember coming out of the course and waiting for our transport and thought “yeah I could live here”. Another fav about 35 mins north towards Alicante is Ffont de lopp. This course is set in the mountains (but not too hilly) and Its a lovely little course. There are several others I have played in the area and I would be happy to drop you an email with more info if needed.

Have a look at "The Golf Factory. Cabo Roig" website. Its a golf shop/booking facility just off the N332 in Cabo Roig. I have used them many times over the years when there are no local society games on or when I have friends visiting etc. They have a great website so you can look at all the offers in the area and also book something quite easily online.
Not sure if this link will be in the correct format but the website is...
www.thegolffactory.es
They also have a Facebook page
