any information about Flu vaccinations this autumn 2021
by Paul1000 » Sun Oct 10, 2021 10:31 pm
I`ve been searching the forum for information about the flu jabs this autumn but have not been able to find anything.
Does anyone have any information on when the health centres (Lo Marabu for example) will be carrying out flu vaccinations ?.
Thank you.

Flu vaccines don't start in this area until the last week October, beginning of November.
They were brought forward early last year because of covid and no covid vaccine available at the time.
When they do start, it will be shown on YoSalud under the health campaign tab and you will be asked to book an appointment for "anti-gripe".
The booster covid vaccine will be initially rolled out to the over 70s and they are still discussing on whether that group will have the flu and the booster at the same time.

Do they not contact you for flu jab, I can't get into
YoSalud for some reason.

We've never been contacted for the flu vaccine. If they do roll out both together this year they may do but I'm sure it will be posted on here when they do start.

Big notice up in the medical centre in Doña Pepe, we do not know when the flu vaccine will be given, I think they may be fed up of people asking,

Lol.. It might have been helpful if they had done that a few weeks ago, it would have made life easier for the staff and for everyone else.

The health centres will start giving the flu vaccine in this area on Wednesday 27th October, 2 days later than planned.
It will be for those over 70 who will also receive the booster vaccine at the same time.
It is different from previous years and the plan is:
The PortalSalud app will be updated early next week and those over 70 can book their vaccines online. Those eligible will also be contacted by phone or SMS to make an appointment. Those who are housebound will be visited at home. Note that you do not have to wait for a call if you are over 70 but can make your own appointment via the app although ensure that 6 months has passed since receiving your 2nd covid vaccine. Those not wishing a covid vaccine at all can book for just the flu jab if they are over 70.
The flu vaccine will also be given to pregnant women from the same day regardless of how far along they are.
The plan is to vaccinate all those over 70 by November 15th when they will start giving the flu vaccine to those aged 65 to 69 plus those under that age with underlying medical problems and to essential workers. Health centre staff will receive the flu vaccine from November 2nd.
Note that the flu vaccines are one month later than last year but has returned to normal scheduling in previous years.

Thanks for such a concise summary of the plan. Excellent, and very clear.
