Dialysis

A friend of mine has dialysis in the Uk and would like to know if the same service is available to him when he comes to Spain. He has a place in Murcia but obviously knows he would need to travel. Does any one know how he goes about getting treatment in Spain please?

I would imagine seeing a GP for referral. Torrevieja Hospital has a big dialysis unit in its own building with car parking places reserved for dialysis patients.
I should think the Murcia region would have the same facilities and see that Murcia and San Pedro have dialysis care centres but I think they are private. (Nephrocare)

Your friend should have a holiday dialysis co-ordinator at the hospital he dialyses at. The co-orinator should contact the nearest Spanish hospital on his behalf to see if there are slots available and if so to make arrangements. That means his slots are free in the U.K. which can then be offered to any visiting dialysis patient. The sooner he finds out availability the better.
