Doctor's appointment-can anyone else help?

I'm really surprised at this. As mentioned, my neighbour was here in the Summer and had chest pains. I told her to go the Lo Marabu clinic with her EHIC and she was seen there and then. Turned out to be gastro something or other and she was given a prescription by the doctor.
She was a bit worried about the signs asking you to bring an interpreter but her husband had the Spanish/English translator on his tablet and they got by with that and sign language.

Marcliff is spot on and if you ask here tonight you’ll find an interpreter in minutes

Shiva, she actually asked for our NIE's and E111 as she called our EHIC cards, but I think in the beginning I had said I wanted to make an appointment for my husband to see the doctor and we were non-resident, so maybe that's what she misunderstood.
I will take JohnES's advice and go back on Monday and say we are on holiday and ask for an English-speaking doctor. I didn't say that last time as I don't classify us as being on holiday as we're living here for the winter, but I suppose for this purpose we are on holiday.
And Marcliff, I prepared a Word doc on my phone with all the symptoms, how long he had had them, what he had taken to date etc translated into Spanish, as well as a repeat prescription from our UK doctor showing the medication he is currently on. I do have Google Translate and iTranslate on my phone as well and can normally get by.
Thanks for all your input.

Exactly! what price health!...…..but you know some people say, I,ve worked all my life and paid into the system why should I pay. ,If I was seriously ill and needed medical attention ,if I had the means to pay I would, but that's me . others are different, but the longer you leave it the worse it gets, then the doctor says, when you finally get to see him, why did you leave it so long,?Suetag wrote:I've been watching and reading with interested all the comments on this topic and for the love of me I can't understand people at times if you or you partner is that ill well bloody go private and get them sorted out you cant take the money with you when you go!!!!

Glassman, you can't be a typical male then, persuading most of them to see a doctor at all is an achievement

I personally think the confusion is because the Receptionists at the Health Centre can now issue the temporary SIP cards, which is what the lady in the town hall at the bottom of of the stairs does.
I went and renewed my padron on a day she was not available, so on my way home went into Lo Marabu Clinic / Health Centre and they did it for me there and then. She wanted to see my expired temporary SIP, my renewed padron and my EHIC card (the lady at the Town Hall doesn't ask to see EHIC Card),
I agree with others on here, as I know people that come for the whole winter, one in particular has regular blood tests as he is on Wolfarin and all he says is he is on holiday, tells them what he needs and shows his EHIC card for an appointment.
I really think this has been lost in translation and the Receptionist thought you wanted to "renew" your SIP card. I believe you can get a straightforward Doctor's appointment as a holidaymaker with your EHIC card.
