Doctors visit

Doctors visit

Postby Kevin Waller » Mon Nov 05, 2018 3:46 pm

My father lives on Quesada but i live in the UK.
Is there any way that i can arrange for a doctor to visit him. I have been unable to find out from him if he actually has a doctor as he doesn't seem to have visited a doctor for many years.

Doctors don't usually do home visits here. I should imagine they would in an emergency but it may be difficult to get one.
Might I suggest you contact Help Vega Baja who could steer you in the right direction.
Help Vega Baja

They could at least give you some advice even if you aren't registered with them.

We have recently been dealing with Help Vega Baja. However they have not responded so far. Im just wondering what our back up plan would be.

Certainly a problem trying to deal with these problems from another country.

If your father has a SIP card he should be registered with a doctor at the Quesada medical centre.
Can your father not physically get to the medical centre or is the problem that he will not go.
It could be because of the language problem. Many patients use a translator but one or two of the doctors will speak English.
If he can get to the centre you could phone up and make an appointment but you would need to get your father's SIP card number.
You could also make an appointment on the SALUD website.

Hi there, I recently nursed my Mum until her death, the doctor would not come to see her, the only time she came to the house was to register Mum's death, doctors do not usually do home visits, if your Dad is ill, an ambulance can be called to transport him to doctors surgery, usually a TNA. Like someone has already said, if Dad has a SIP card then he will be registered, it should have a doctors name on the back.

Good luck, it is a difficult situation but the health care here is fantastic, it is just that the Spanish way is the family do the caring but of course they normally live nearby or have the parent with them.

We will be over next week so will take him. We have tried to find out if he has a SIP card but he doesn't know. He thinks it is 12 years since he went. Is here any way of checking if he does have a card/number.

The best way would be to call at the medical centre with what documentation he does have such as NIE, padron, residencia.
The reception desk normally ask for your SIP card for your record but they may be able to find him with his name and address.
